Why are Body Kits bad?
because around here it's like high school all over again or still is for some people, if you aren't with the crowd....you are against the crowd.
everyone is sheep.
do what you want to your car to make yourself happy.

because body kits on civics look FUGLY. a lip only slightly alters the stock look to make it cleaner. honda made a nice car out of the factory.
but its your car so you should do what YOU want. not others. it just so happens that my taste is similar to others

Even regarding Body Kits, Form should follow Function...
That is, what's your car for? If you're driving it to/from work or school everyday, then you will probably be better off with something that's not that expensive, and easy to replace. Otherwise, everytime you take your car out, you'd be putting those expensive bumpers and side skirts at risk. Potholes, Tar, Pebbles, Road Kill... all hazzards for your hard earned $$$ and parts. You can be doing everything right (driving-wise), and have some other dumfuk hit-n-run your ***. If you don't mind risking such possibilities with an expensive body kit, then you lose all right to complain when things go shitty... It's better to keep things mild for a DD.
Then again, if you're building some kind of money-making showcar, then you're probably gonna need to buy something most people here would rip you for. You're not going to get many invites with a car that has a MacGyver Formula H Body Kit, and there aren't many people you'll "WOW" with a Type-R Lip.
The Bottom Line Is This: *Body Kits are bad if you don't like them* *Body Kits are good if you like them*.

my oppinion is your trying to turn your car(looks wise that is) into something its not, not to mention they are expensive as expletive and you might as well turbo your car and look good than have a slow car and turn into another bad repping honda owner.
I agree with all the above. I personally don't like them after going through my "body kit phaze" because yes the FITMENT SUCKS! Everything just looks so tacky and not "flush" like the clean OEM stuff, and a lot of cars I see with body kits just keep on adding to the distinction that body kits = rice , with their ricer ways/actions.
Most of the time, with body kits come big wings, and with big wings come big wheels, and with big wheels come projectors, and with projectors come euros, and with euros come stickers and graphics, and with stickers and graphics come big ebay fart cans, and with big ebay fart cans your ride becomes a POS that most people will laugh at.
Well, I've never liked body kits. I like the stock lines of cars. I like a lot of stock parts on cars too though. I don't give a expletive what anyone else thinks.
Reasons I don't like body kits:
- Poor designs. I just find them generally unattractive.
- Poor fitment. Often body kits don't fit correctly or need a lot of persuasion to make them fit on the vehicle.
- Poor materials. Body kits are known for breaking easily.
- The ricer image. I'm not talking about the idea that all people who have body kits are ricers, but more speaking of the many cars with body kits that also have many other gaudy parts and accessories. Heavy metallic flake in the paint, stickers, full length decals down the side or on the hood, giant park bench style wings, roof scoops, etc. Besides looking bad imo, these cars are often driven by younger drivers (15-21) who think they and their car are the hottest **** ever.
So in summary... personal preference. A lot of people don't like how body kits look, fit or stand up to daily driving. To top it off, some people might steer away from body kits because of the image often associated with them or because other parts are more popular and they want to be a part of the cool crowd.

body kits are for people who like to rice out their cars. y spend $1000 to get a body kit and get it painted when u could get a turbo kit for around the same price. atleast then ur making ur car faster instead of have just an appearence
I generally agree with most posts on here, no doubt, I had the park bench wing and graphics. However, the thought crossed my mind....you say don't waste the money on looking good but put it into performance, well unless you take it to the track daily/once a week/once a month, everyone says no street racing it's dangerous ETC ETC ETC, why have performance when you can't use it all the time when you can go cosmetic and have people look at it, (yes some like it and some don't) And by no means am I trying to be a dick or anything, this is just a point of view that crossed my mind while reading the thread and I thought it might be a decent discussion, probably more suited for GDD but whatever, it's already here.
i tried to think of a way to respond that wasnt what everyone else above me said but i couldnt, so here the most straight to the point one...<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by akunamatta »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">and usually the fitment is terrible, always*.</TD></TR></TABLE>

If you get a nice urethane kit they can look very nice... not say you should paint you car lime green and put a blitz body kit on it but some of them a very nice looking. You are prolly going to get the same response out of most people on this forum( If it's not JDM or stock than its rice) But IMO JDM is the new rice. Its just a bunch of mindlees idiots following after each other. Do what you want to your car and dont let other people tell you anything. I am personally going to do the Buddy Club 2 kit on my hatch.
They aren't bad, some people just have a more mature sense of taste and don't really like them.
Seems like the only people who are into bodykits are retarded high school girls and wiggers that think their stock i/h/e civic is fast. Thats also why no one likes them.

this should have read "why could a body kit possibly be any good??"
you wouldn't have gotten any response and realized they are good for nothing except making you look retarded while fuking up your cars aerodynamics

Not trying to justify body kits but in some cases they do open up more room for a FMIC.

why are they bad? because everyone on here, including myself, is just jumping on the band wagon. What will be the next craze? In five years, we'll look back and call this JDM/OEM fase so rice
