Questions about my new GSR
I just bought a 2000 GSR yesterday and I have a few questions.
First of all, it's completely stock, so it's ready for me to do with it what I will, minus some pedals the guy put on it but whatever.
I want to know about the best and hopefully most cost-efficient lowering springs for it. I want to drop it about two inches, because it has the stock blades on it right now, but I plan on throwing some 16" Enkeis on it in not too long. I found some Skunk2 springs on Ebay for like 140 bucks, but I see a lot of just generic brand springs for cheap, and I'm guessing this is one of those you get what you pay for type of things.
Secondly, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a place to find some good, preferrably new (or like new) all red taillights for it.

stay away from tein if you want a 2" drop. those skunk2 should be fine. your shocks will be shot quick with springs though. save up some more and get some koni yellows and ground controls. you will be happy. for the all red tail lights people just use window paint.
Personally, for springs, I would stick with H&R, they make some good ish. I picked some up off HT for $75 shipped in mint condition. Just look around craigslist, H-T , and ebay till you get what you want. Hopefully you can be patient with the process. Remember, patience is a virtue. However, LUCK is freakkin awesome
gsr blades will look better on a teg than any enkei rim you can find. keep them. ground control coil overs and koni yellows are pricey but are well worth it so you can start saving. if you insist on a budget suspension and want a 2" drop you can just do something like H&R race springs w/KYB AGX adjustables
Thanks for the help, yeah the guy i bought it from had toyo proxes 4 tires on it, with two new ones in the front i believe, and they're great tires, i like them a lot...
Thanks for all the input guys....
What about a good exhaust system? My brother has the comptech usa on his R, i believe, and it's a sweet little system, sounds sick too... anybody else have any suggestions?

Definitely don't go cheap with suspension.
As everyone beat to death, Koni's are the way to go, unless you want a full coilover setup.
Comptech's system is nice, and so is the RS*R Ex Mag (have it on my GS-R).
A lot of people also go with GReddy exhausts like the SP2 or WS2.
Good luck!

A few suggestions:
As far as suspension goes, Koni/GC is the best way to go in my (and countless others) opinion. However, I understand that this setup can be prohibitively expensive, especially when you are trying to focus on other aspects of your car. That being said, H&R and Eibach make some pretty good lowering springs, although I'm sure there are plenty more out there that are great also. The skunk2 springs you're looking at might be pretty decent, of course when paired with a decent shock. You may be able to get away with using these on the stock shocks for a while, but the ride will be sub-par and evenually they are going to blow. When you do decide to upgrade the shocks, please do not cheap out: get Koni yellows or Tokico Illuminas. Cheaper shocks like KYB AGX, KYB GR-2 and Tokico blues (HP) are merely stock repleacements and are just going to end up blown.
For exhaust, there are many choices, and it all depends on how you want the car to sound, how loud you want it to be, and what other exhaust pieces you pair it with. One thing to keep in mind, however, is with a car of such small displacement (your GSR
), You can really only choose either volume or nice tone. Not both. If you want it loud, it's not gonna sound that great, but if you keep it quiet(er), you can get some really nice tone
. I prefer the latter. I would suggest checking out the Apex'i World Sport II catback ... I love this exhaust!
Best of Luck!
