Default Grinding clutch in neutral when clutch is released(already searched)

Hello,
I have a boosted F20Z1 Lude, and this evening I heard, when I'm in neutral, that there is a slightly grinding noise. When I press in the clutch, the sound leaves. What do you guys think what it is?
Thanks in advance!

when this happened to me, it was the throwout bearing going out. i just replaced the whole clutch set.

then again, could be a tranny problem like a dying synchro, or slave cylinder. these are the things i was told to check from the guys here, but my problem was throwout bearing.

Thanks dude for the reply. I was thinking about the throwout bearing..It could also be a dying synchro indeed. Thank you for your reply!

hmm, how loud is this grinding you hear? just loud enough to be audible? i had a REALLY light grinding/whoozing when i put my car in neutral and it would go away when i depressed the clutch pedal. two months later, im changing my clutch as we speak. im really hoping that its my throwout bearing and not a synchro.

get it checked asap, and make sure your tranny fluid is FULL. i let it go with that slightly audible grinding noise for a while, and it was my drain bolt was loose, ended with a murdered tranny.

second time though, it was throwout bearing. just make sure you do exterior, easy checks, like make sure its full of fluid/oil, then make sure your clutch pedal is doing what its supposed to. then pull that tranny its a bastard

definitely the throwout bearing. mine had a kind of supercharger-ish whiny sound, gone when i pushed in clutch.

It is indeed a REALLY light grindingI changed the fluid 2 days ago, so I will look for exterior things. My clutch pedal is doing what it is supposed to be, so I will figure it out. Thanks guys for all the replies!

Edit: When I changed my fluid I used 10W40, because I didn't have MTF2, could that be the caue of my problem?

put it this way, if you change the fluid, and its still making the same noise at the same level, you've narrowed it down even farther to something in the clutch assembly. if i remember correctly, i changed mine out and it didnt do a bit of good.

Agreed. If that doesn't seem to help, I'm going to say throwout bearing.

throwout bearing or failed clutch disc (broken spring retainers on the clutch disc)

lol, i finally got my tranny off. pulled the clutch disc and i hear a piece of metal hit the floor.. sure enough, something on the clutch plate was broken. i think it was one of the spring retainers you are talking about.

as far as the throwout bearing, comparing the new one to the old one. the old one is definitely fckd. it just spins freely with the brush of a finger. the new, not so much. and when you spin the old one, that the same damn noise i was hearing when i would put it into neutral. hope it all works out for ya RubenPrelude.
