Please don't tell me to search, I did, and all I found was people asking what it is or why it came on or how to reset it.
That little stupid service thing on cluster, how does that work, does it just flip 3000 miles after you reset it? Or is it based on something else. I assume it's based on the odometer, but what on the odometer, 3k? 5k?

I believe you mean the maintenance light. It comes on around 7500 mile (I think) after you reset it.
From the owner's manual:
Maintenance Required Indicator
U.S. Models
This indicator reminds you that it is nearing 7,500 miles (12,000 km) since the last scheduled maintenance. Refer to the Maintenance Schedules for Normal and Severe Driving Conditions on pages 126-127.
When the distance driven since the last scheduled maintenance nears 7,500 miles (12,000 km), the indicator will turn yellow. If you exceed 7,500 miles (12,00 km) the indicator will turn red.
Your dealer will reset the indicator when he preforms the scheduled maintenance. If someone else performs the maintenance, reset the indicator by inserting your key in the slot beside the indicator.

Was that necessary? Just because he has 6k+ posts doesn't mean he knows everything there is to know about a honda.
Anyways, I think it goes off of the odometer and it is every 3k or 5k. Not sure. Maybe someone else knows for sure. I would like to know too.

It's 7500 ... not 3000 or 5000.
Reading is gooooood.

I'm what's called "a rarity" - unlike most other H-T members I don't claim to know everything under the sun. With that said, I did not know what the mileage was and couldn't find it, hence, this thread. Could I have looked it up in my service manual? No, because the car didn't come with one and posting here is free opposed to buying a new service manual from Honda just to find it out, get what I'm saying?

Blah, okay, thanks, so it's pretty much absolutely useless to me - I was hoping if it was 3k I could use it to remind me of my oil, but I change it every 3k, not every 7500. Oh well, 'tis is life.
Thanks a bunch, props go to you

I wouldn't say you admitting you don't know all about Hondas a rarity on this site. I can't remember having seen anyone on this site ever claim to know everything about Hondas. The problem is some ******** out there think that someone else believes they know everything about Hondas meerly because that person posts information about Hondas. My theory is this is a sign of an insecurity. I've been accused of thinking I know everything about Hondas even though I often have to tell people that, NO, I don't believe I know everything about Hondas. Usuaully the people who say such things are weak people who perhaps get upset if I tell them that they're wrong (even better when I show proof).

I was able to turn off the light myself. I got the maintenance done through the dealer and then I forgot what website I saw it at but I just turned it off and it was fairly easy.
I didn't mean anything bad by it. I thought you were talking about a CEL and were messing around. Didn't know our cars had such a light (I'm guessing 6th gens?) Sorry bout that. Learn something new every day
