a steady job, decent credit, and financial discipline will get you in an s2k.

I couldn't have put it better myself. Also most owners aren't kids... I think a majority are in their mid twenties. I am.

Yep! A $20k loan will be around $400/month - and then insurance maybe around $500/month. At minimum wage thats around 65 hours of work - so its possible - if you had a cheap place to live or lived with your parents.

It gets a lot easier when you are older, have credit, and a well paying job. Just wait, if you try hard enough you'll get it.

i've had a job and saving up for awhile then finally had a good down payment and financed it under my dad's name. my job gets me enough for insurance and car payment, and about 20 bucks every month. financially it was not smart, but i wanted it that bad. CREDIT helps greatly. if you want anything bad enough and if you're not sitting around waiting for it to come to you. you'll get there.

steady nice paying job. good credit.

worked hard in school and work paid for my masters.

now im 29...s2k is paid off...insurance is about 1k/yr for it. also have a 05 jeep grand cherokee limited loaded with the hemi/nav/dvd and an 07 honda accord ex v6 (just traded an 04 inifiniti g35x for it) and a new construction 3bdrm house (mortgage FTL...LOL).

work hard, play hard! it will be a reward in itself...it takes time.

500/month for insurance is insane!

I'm going to one of the best colleges to be able to continue to afford it, and go beyond.

If you're broke, you should NOT be driving an S2000. What are you going to do when you need new tires? A new top? Rear diff?

Sometimes, I wish that the S2k were several grand more to keep these high school kids and idiots from buying one. Then they go and put 30 speakers and lambo doors on them.

It's not that expensive of a car to own. Is insurance really $500 a month for the 18-21 crowd for this car?!
