i wanted to know what is the best setup for a b18a1 bottom end... also, will the vtec head fit my current header.. thanx
any vtec mentioned but it would be a waste if u used a itr/ctr head if you dont build the bottom end, and honestly ls/vtec is played out, whats wrong with your engine anyway and have you tried looking into a full motor swap or boosting ur teg....and another thing whats up with that "STI". this is not subaru-tech

i cant afford a subbie yet. i would so get a subbie. i got to build with what i got... i just got the s300 system and i ca put a vtec head on, and i can change over the program to run a vtec head... i want cheap horsepower instead of spending big money on a bottom end, and still having no vtec. insnt it why we like hondas, vtec. what would give the highest compression out of all the heads.
if you want cheap hp lsvtec is not what you want. it's very expensive to build an lsvtec the right way so it doesnt blow up on you in 5k miles.

any stock head wont give higher compression, try going with high compression pistons, aftermarket valvetrain&cams and higher compression will not give more power with out proper tune and build. ive lived and breathed honda/acura for nine years straight now and vtec is not the only thing i like bout "H" or "A", youve got to appreciate the way they're built from the ground up. is honda conservetive--yes but youve got to understand how to make the right changes and improvements b4 you start throwing parts at it and expecting to have 400hp to the wheels. THERES NO SUCH THING AS CHEAP HP!!!!! im not trying to bash on u but do some research and try getting a manual&doing some minor d.i.y. jobs. goodluck

if you really want it get the cheapest. but i love my integra. it started as a auto LS. then i switch over to manual (gsr tranny) it was a easy swap i dont get why people say its hard and if you really look around there are great deals out there. Once i get my car tuned im not doing anything else to the motor. sure its not a fast car but it is a fun car to drive.

i have the tools 4 the tune. the hondata system was my first buy because of the tuning abilities... i just want to know what head is right for my b18a1 block... i just finished getting my engine to a solid daily driver. now i want power or vtec. if i can build a high hp engine with my non vtec head i will. but im hearing alot of ppl saying going to vtec is worth the 600 u throw at it... so im down. i can do the work myself, thats what i do, but i really am a noob when it comes to hondas. i started with subbies and ford big blocks. but smoking big blocks and getting 30mpg is a thing of beauty. that is y im interested in hondas.. i need the education b4 i can buy then install.

the problem with that is,,, well. u know what. i want internals before i put my custom supercharger on. i want a solid head setup, then the supercharger is ready... that comes to my first question. and will my chikara header fit the vtec head upgrade if i decide to upgrade. if not, i dont want to buy another exhaust manifold.
any header for a B series will fit on another. i just dont know about it going to the head. since youre coming from big blocks than you'll soon learn that a supercharger on a big block wont produce the same results as a supercharger on a little 1.8L. turbo is going to be your new friend.
What you have is an old gen LS motor. Best bang for the buck hp would be turbo. Seeing how stock internal LS motors are more than capable to put down 300whp w/ a good tune.
You should worry more than your header fitting if you plan on doing the ls/vtec build.

Building a good ls/vtec costs alot more than 600.

Haha true that...I spent 500 on a gsr head, 300 on the ls/vtec kit, 100 on covers, 40 on a oil pump, 300 in labor trades, 100 on a p28, and I didnt even touch internals cuz it was already flushin my wallet....BUT in answer to your question, if your not doing internals and want cheap hp, just buy the cheapest vtec head u come across. All those heads are very good and have slight differences between them so it shouldn't matter. good luck

b16 head will be the best for the price. b18c1 head will be better with a port and polish. the best head by far is the b18c5 which is identical to the b16 but the b16 doesnt have a p&p. the price is killer but worth it.

You need to know what your end goal is before you can make educated choices. There is not just one "best" setup, especially when talking about building an ls/vtec with the intent to supercharge it.
BTW, superchargers are not interchangeable between p72 and pr3 heads.

wrong. a head with a smaller combustion chamber will yeild more comression. and also, a head with bigger valves will yield higher compression.

wrong, a header for a b16 will not fit on an ls, b20, etc. deck height on the blocks are taller.

how will the b18c1 head be any better then the b16 head? of course if u port it, it will be better. but if u port a b16 head as opposed to a gsr, most heads willf flow around the sam cfm. and just for the record, a gsr head only flows 3 more cfm than a b16 head. brad from rlz tested the both of them and got these results. and also, itr heads have differnet cams, and valvetrain then a b16 head therefore they are not identical except for the port.

tell you the truth i would just boost it. run like 8psi with a good tune. i you will be fine. hell im going to be boostin my gsr motor with 150k on 10psi

E-******-xactly, why would you say you don't wanna boost,
but Actually expect to get power off a Cheap lsvtec build?
Building an lsvtec setup isn't going to be ****, if you only build it to be stockish.
And you do not need internals with boost, you need a smart tune,
cause if you ended up getting all forged internals, it won't do **** if you lean out.
Forget about the frankenstein, and just boost the ls, you'll Easily make more hp then some n/a setup.

u guys r looking at the smaller picture.. i just purchase an electric 15 psi supercharger... for 2500.. im going to get free power. u can the get the same performance out of a honds if u look to better technology. this is how we evolved from all engine to turbo. im looking at 400plus to the wheels on 105 pump gas..also including torque if i buy a gangster crank... expletive turbos.. to heavy ..my extra batteries r still 5 times lighter.. and a daily driver... anyone got money
