Default 1991 Honda Accord "S" light

Hi folks, new to the world of Hondas here and having a problem. I have verified that my TCM is in need of being replaced or repaired because of some trany issue. I can see that R41 is burnt and a cap is leaking. Which I have found out is common. What I cant find is anybody that knows the Ohms value of the resistor so I can replace it. Any help would be a big help to get this car going.

There are no posted schematics of the TCM printed circuit board (PCB). However, you may be in luck, as there is one internet post with R41 identified as 150 ohms. You should replace the leaking cap too.

Good luck on the repair. I would try to repair it myself too, as a resistor and cap is very inexpensive.

If possible, could you post pictures of your TCM's PCB, so I can see the color bands of other resistors, so I can identify the values of other resistors, to possibly help others in the future? -- Also, electronics are my hobby too.

Thanks a lot. I will pick one up tonight at work and some new caps. Hopefully this will fix the problem. This is my nephews first car that we just bought for him. Great car minus this minor problem.

Electronics is a bit more of a hobby for me. I was an elctronics tech for 15 years before changing to work on Flight Simualtors 5 years ago.

Thanks again.

Update. I replaced a burnt 150ohm resistor and a cap and it works great. Thank you Tech8 for the help. You just saved me at least $100 for another TCM.

Thanks Tech8 for the help. I replaced the resistor and cap and it worked for about a week or so. Today, the S light started flashing again and i could only get 2nd and 3rd to work. After pulling the 7.5A fuse for the backup and letting it sit for a while. It started to work again. I took the TCM back out and checked the resistor and all was good. However, I did find that the TCM is the cause of a slow battery drain that I have. Pulling the plug off the TCM causes my drain to go away and the car then has a normal ~15ma draw from the battery. Is the TCM causeing my drain or is it keeping something powered that it shouldnt. Like a solenoid or relay ?

Check what trouble code(s) are stored, by jumping the blue service connector.

http://www.c-speedracing.com/faq/06.php

The transmission trouble codes are different than the above link.

Here is another link that explains most of the transmission problem(s). It has the 15 trouble codes for the transmission. Most likely your problem(s) are linked to the solenoid A and B; loose connector, open wire, or solenoids needs cleaning or replacement. Go to 'transmission' in the following link:

http://techauto.bravehost.com/

Post the trouble code here, and I'll see if I can add more info. for you to narrow down the areas to check further. But, I'm thinking toward the solenoids.
