Default Timing belt question

I know I need to change out the timing belt and water pump and all that good stuff, and I'm gettin ready to do it, but in the meantime, until I get it into the shop, I need this answered. Does the timing belt make a weird, almost wind up toy sound, when its getting old and ready to break ?? I've had this sound for a few days and am wondering if its the timing belt or possibly something else. Its going into the shop hopefully Saturday, but its my only means of transportation. Should I be concerned and find another vehicle to drive until **** gets fixed ??

Thanks guys and dolls !! :D

play it safe and drive a different car, since you DON'T want a timing belt to break... because if it does, your engine is done
