Default Who wants a "Stolen Car" Forum??

Since I have been reading all these stolen car posts, and my friend's hatchback was stolen recently, I really think that Honda-Tech should make a stolen car forum.. It would be a place where people could post info about their cars, and we could discuss parts that might be stolen, etc, instead of cluttering all the other forums with it.

So what do you guys think? Vote TODAY!

How often would anyone go check it out. Sounds like a boring, depressing place to me. I would rather stolen ITRs be posted here for all to see.

I can see how it might help. People who have had their cars stolen can post information there about their cars so others can be on the lookout. Also, when a shady ebay auction is going on, a link can be posted so those with stolen cars can check the stuff out for themselves. It would also be a place to start collecting VINs of stolen cars.

If I were to come across something fishy, I would visit the forum and post about what I saw, hoping it might help someone else, but I doubt I would visit it otherwise. And I would still expect to see posts in the ITR forum about peoples stolen cars too.

I imagine the people that would frequent it most would be those who are trying to track down stolen parts.

I think it would be useful. For stripped cars too.

i see the benifit of the idea, but honestly hardly anyone will go in there, so whats the point. If someone posts about a stolen car in there, likely that hardly anyone would even notice. As it is now if an ITR goes down we all know and can surely keep an eye out.

I did have a strange idea though, after registering on http://www.s2ki.com in order to be classified as a member you have to actually post up your car's VIN number. Maybe we should modify that idea somehow so that there is some record of vins, both legit and stolen? I'm sure it wouldnt be a hard Database to maintain...?

fais-who's grasping at straws and is sick to his stomach w/ the number of stolen R's

Yeah, I wonder how many H-T users would disappear if a legit VIN was required for membership...

i think a "stolen ride" forum would have as many hits as even the itr forum, contrary to what other members would believe. it would keep all the threads localized into one body, rather than jumping from one forum to another, or page to page. i don't think it should only include our r's though, 'cause everyone knows all these parts are interchangeable. what if a civic forum member unknowingly buys hot itr parts that he could have been warned about on the "stolen ride" forum....this makes everyone on honda-tech aware.
i also like the fact that the cry babies who keep knocking posts on being aware that something might be stolen...won't have a reason to talk in this one.... thieves...let there never come a day i find one near my ****...for their own sake...

well on s2ki you dont have to use the VIN to register persay. But to be registered w/ an 'owner' status you must submit a vin...but forget using it as a membership tool, we should just start a VIN database. Almost like our own mini version of carfax. but for ITRs.

this is a VERY good idea. lets start a poll for this idea and see what the response is like and what it will take to get it started.
