Whats the best way to get tint off a set of tail lights?

yea so some retard puts tint over the tail lights of the car i just bought. my friend told me since it was on there for a while it'd be a bitch to get off. i'm not sure what the best method would be so i'd rather ask.
anyone ever had to do this? tint was on there prob a year or so if that makes a difference.
please post if u have any info that would be helpful.

i dunno about wetsanding plastic. use some paint thinner first, powerful stuff, dont let it sit, put it on, take it off, im sure it will work, then polish it to a finish
