What synthetic oil is best for the engine?
What do you guys think about the engine oil, which is better synthetic or regular? if synthetic then what about the one that lets you go for 15000miles? To me it sound kind of freaky
Mobil-1 Full Synthetic actually has proof that it doesn't break down after 15000 miles. They also have dyno sheets that prove their oil also gives more power.
I noticed in my 01 Accord, when I put synthetic, the idle got smoother and the car just felt more quiet. Plus I think now synthetic can last up to 5000. Prob those Mobil 5000 can last 7000. I'm going to start using synthetic from now on.
synthetic is just finer but and tend to last a lot longer than regular oils, in my acura i used just motorcraft synthetic oil and changed it every 3000, although it was not needed untile 5000. But if you want your car last a lot longer, baby it, use synthetic and change it every 3000 or so, thats my 2 cents, you can prevent engine wear by a lot
The synthetic oil may not break down, but the engine will still wear metal shavings making the oil dirty, so you probably should not really go 15,000 miles without a oil change.

werd, but thats what the oil filter is for
imo WIX and K&N would be the best bets if u wanna use oil that damn long bc they use coil springs inside rather than plastic and cardboard like fram
i use WIX filter and mobil1 full synthetic

Amsoil and the EAO filter are guarenteed to last 25,000. but I change mine at 18,000 miles. I have no problem using this oil for that long. No burning, No leaking, No loss of oil pressure, Compression test is perfect, No Knocks, great mileage. I have been doing this since 40,000 miles when I bought the car and now have 124,000 mi. on it. If I was using synthetic in my '99 Accord I'd use Mobil 1 which is what I use in my Volvo, but my '93 Volvo is a turbo thus the engine gets hotter.
In my 4-cylinder Accord, I use Castrol GTX 5w30. In my '95 Camry, also I4, I will be using Castrol GTX (haven't done an oil change on it yet, it had an oil change a couple thousand miles ago by the previous owner).
Yes, I have too many cars, I'll be selling the Volvo later this summer.

lol, i use royal purple 5w30 and hamp synergy oil filters in my 94 accord. i think it's $7.29 a qt after tax or somethin like that. but it eases my mind to know my f22b2 is drinking one of the finest.

amsoil I use it in the h22 and also i run the amsoil filter. but this stuff is not cheap though. It cost me well over $100 for everything. but it's worth it.
100. wtf. how long do you go before each oil change. now thats pricey. i have always run mobil 1 5w30 with the 104 filter. it runs me about 35 and i think thats a lil pricey but then again it takes me like almost a year to hit 3-5k miles since she's not my dd anymore.
just like one of the guys said if u would have scrolled up u can go up to 20,000 miles for the next oil change and 10k on the oil filter it's we'll worth the money and less oil changes just look up amsoil trust me they'll tell ya!!! O by the way when i first installed my motor i was using that pennsoil synthtic crap with the silver bottle it was burning it and i could not stand it. I'm very picky when it comes to the type of oils that i run in my vehicles.
i just done the oil change on my car about 2 or 3k ago and from a difference when i was running the pennsoil it would get black in due overtime but that's how all synthetics are (from what i have seen) now when u pull ur valve cover off and see that ur cams and rocker arms are clean like someone has washed the internals of the engine yeah that's some good stuff!! But i choose amsoil anyday.
I feel most synthetic oils can last a long time. When Mobil 1 was first introduce, they advertised it to last at least 30,000 miles and guaranteed it; they stopped advertising that years ago. But, I believe it can last a lot longer than 7,500 miles.
I used it on my VW GTI and CRX Si, and did oil changes at 15,000 miles. I changed the oil filter every 3,000 miles and topped off the oil. The cars had no problems and were running well past the time I sold them at over 100,000 - 150,000 miles each. The compression test on the CRX Si were at stock specs. all the way until I sold it.
I have been using it in my Accord since new. I started out with Mobil 1 oil changes every 10,000 - 15,000 miles (& changing filter with OEM filter every 3,000 miles), there never was a problem, and the compression again were at stock specs. everytime. I since switched to oil & filter change intervals at every 7,500 miles. So, do I beleive Mobil 1 protects? Yes, because the car has over 255,000 miles and still running strong. -- I also do the same on my dad's Toyota, no problems.
