Nitrous Turbo That's my $.02 ... It worked for a family member with a 94 LS. However he put over a 100 shot of Nitrous and he blew 2 motors but he had some good times w/ that. Upgrades w/ the nitrous were an ebay aluminum radiator, Skunk2 exhaust, and Injen intake.

Turbo it for the best HP gains for the money spent.

Well it wont increase your HP, but you could always go with a shorter tranny.

intake, header, and exhaust would be your best bets.

but unfortunately you'll hardly be able to notice a difference with those mods for the money you spend.

my opinion is either save your money and spend it on a turbo kit, or just save the money for a rainy day and be happy with what you've got.

A turbo would be the best long-term solution.

Cams, a header, a tuning device, and paying someone to tune is going to cost you quite a bit over $400-$500.

You can spend money on an intake and exhaust, but it won't net you the results you desire for the $$ you want to spend. Try Nitrous Oxide, buy a used kit if you want a bit more HP out of your b18

are you broke and cheap? get a good nitrous setup and with a proper safety measures it will make your car much faster. using a tps sensor switch and other things to be sure you dont detonate or lean out

i personally am not a fan of nitrous. IT seems so many motors have been blown up by it. In any case, 3-500 dollars is not much, you'd only be able to get a decent dc sports header out of that...hardly worth the money. I say save your money for now towards a turbo build. I know you don't want a ton of more power, but for what you can afford now won't gain you anything. Turbo can be a lot of power or a resonable amount of power on a stock engine.

The reason i say turbo for later is because look around, look what a dc sports costs, then nice set of cams, then exhaust, then a tune. IT will add up. let us know what your thinking you're going to do.

want your car to be faster?

put a b16 transmission on it. throw the LS tranny away.

better and more cost effective than anything mentioned. night and day difference.</TD></TR></TABLE>

more cost effective- sure

better- i don't think so, just because his gearing would better(doesn't mean he would be as fast as i think he's shooting for. but you're right, a good tranny will be a night and day difference.

But i still think if the op saves up instead of using the few hundred dollars, he'll be MUCH happier down the road, even if he has to wait a while longer. Patience when you're on a tight budget is necassary.

If you have 4-500 dollars to spend only you are sure as hell not going to get I/H/E, or even cams and a tune. Save the money, map out your reasonable goals, and do a little research. If you are dying to do something then get a B16/GSR tranny. I have seen some go for 475-500 in good condtion. Even if you did all of those bolts ons you really wont go anywhere fast with the long LS gears.

yeah b16 tranny, or a b16 head or a tune. those are your best bets.

Save your money. Get a good tranny and save up for a turbo.

Exhaust will be a waste of time, if you get any bolt ons get a GOOD header and an ebay intake.

Then save for something more worthwhile.

A well built and tuned Turbo LS motor can be a force to be reckoned with.

A GSR tranny is your best bang for the buck with an LS. B16 trannies are too short for the 6,800 redline of an LS. If you had a Vtec motor and revved to 8,000+ a B16 or Type R tranny are a little better. Buy a cheap ebay intake and don't get a DC Sports 4-2-1 cause they tend to break around the welds(happened on 2 of mine). Get an ITR replica header and a test pipe/high flow cat/beat out cat. To properly do a cam swap you need the other valvetrain that goes with the cams which is well over your spending limit and won't give you that much of an increase in power with the stock bottomend. The tranny will make the most difference... you'll beat other LS' with I/H/E with a stock LS with a GSR tranny.

but yes all and all your BEST BET is to save up for the t-bo, or just buy quality parts one at a time.
