Distributor help obd2 car now to obd1
I have a z6 bottom end and a y8 head and the dist is off the y8. The y8 bottom end that I had in before had a crank position sensor. My car is converted to obd1 thats running off the chipped ecu. Can i run the stock y8 distributor. Techicanically there is no crank sensor. We took a timing light to the timing belt and lined it up with the distributor. But i know the obd1 z6 distirbutors come with a crank sensor in the distributor and then you have to use the jumper harness. If i dont convert the distirbutor to obd1 off the z6 can i do damage?
I know this topic is a few days out but I saw it in a search and decided to chime in.
If you don't hook those crank sensors up your car won't start. You won't get any spark. If you were running the oposite setup you could choose which one you wanted to plug in. But since you are using an obd1 bottom, your best bet is to run an obd2 dizzy and rewire your harness if it is from an obd2 engine.
