Default please help me install my speakers

i have a 95 civic dx hatch and i just bought 2 6.5'' infinity references "loud speakers" for the front door speakers from best buy. ive got the adapter harness and i know how to wire it in but the plates they give you to mount the speakers dont match up to the holes in the doors and its really confusing cause i thought it would be simple and just be a bolt on project. please tell me i dont have to drill into my car panle. thanks

If the holes don't line up then you're going to need to drill, unless you want to hot glue them to the door.

But don't worry. Your car will be fine, and if you want to save a step, you can use self-tapping screws to drill & attach the speaker at the same time.

Holy crap...

Get one of these??

After you've measured the thickness of the speaker basket, spacer ring (should you choose to use it) and door panel, you should be able to estimate the necessary screw length.

Kids these days...

since i amuse you with my stupid questions how about another, does the speaker basket meaning metal ring correct? touch the speaker or does the plastic mounting bracket so it goes: bracket, basket, speaker? or basket, bracket, speaker (order is outermost to inner most) thanks .

I'm sure that the "6.5'' infinity references "loud speakers" came with an instruction manual, or instruction sheet at least...

I'm also sure that contained within the documentation, there is a diagram showing proper installation.

if i remember correctally, a 6.5 speaker will not fit into the stock 5.5 inch hole! You have to do some cutting of the plastic. also make sure the vapour barrier is still ok, as ou don't want water to get to the speaker. enjoy the install, it's not to bad if you measure everything right. ohh almost forgot, varify that you have clearence for a larger/deeper speaker, the honda ones are pretty tiny.

The stock speaker in a 95 Civic door is a standard 6.5", using a 5" diameter mounting hole, all 3 sets of Infinity Reference 6.5" speakers also use a 5"diameter mounting hole, so no cutting is needed, unless it is for depth and may only be needed for the REF 6022i, [2 1/16" deep]

custom session, the metal pincushion, [mounting ring] should have holes that line up with the 3 stock speaker mounting holes in the stock plastic speaker housings, use supplied screws, then install the foam gasket, then using the 4 machine screws mount the Infinity speaker to the pincushion... http://manuals.harman.com/INF/...0.pdf bottom of page 3. 94

thanks for the instruction guide as i didnt not receive anything that detailed in my purchase... all that came with the box was a sheet that just gave about 20 pictures of other infinity speakers. the instruction guide you posted helps some but im not really sure about what im looking at. do i retain and USE the old plastic mounting bracket that came with the stock speakers? do the infinity ones bolt straight onto it? that is what it sounded like to me. thanks for your help

okay im still kind of lost, if some one could tell me in what order do the brackets go. i have a metal ring, a plastic ring, and then there is some foam gasket that i put on there. all i need to know is how do i attach the speakers and in what order do those parts go in . the instructions given with the product are zero help and since ive never done this before im lost. i cant see how the speaker attaches at the moment because all the holes in the stock spaker housing dont match the brackets that come with the speakers. please help me thanks

You will use only the metal ring and the foam gasket, mount the metal ring to the stock plastic speaker housing, install the foam gasket to the metal ring then mount the speaker to the metal ring. 94

PS, make sure the ring is facing the right direction, [lip facing out].

Cut a hole in the back of the plastic housing big enough for the speaker magnet to fit through.

How much more room, [depth] do you need? 94

also since ill need to take the complete housing out of the panel to cut it, how should i get the top left screw that is hidden behind the door panel. i tried popping off all the rivets but it seems stuck on the window handle, i tried to pop it off but i don't want to accidentally break it.

So you've tried taking the door panel off but you can't get the window crank off?

There's a metal clip of sorts that holds the crank on on two sides, which can be finagled off with a flat head screwdriver or two.

There is a tool made for such a thing, but I've never seen one for sale in local stores
