Used SPEDS or new wheels?
So I'm looking for a set of alloys for the Integra and I see used factory wheel sets for sale around $250 to $300 usually with tires. Right now I can get a used set of SPEDS with tires for $300.
As I'm sure most of you know, used tires are a bit of a crap shoot, and the PO usually doesn't know about marking which corner of the car they came off of. As a result, I figure I'll have to get new tires for whatever wheels I buy. If I get new tires for around $300 with mounting and balancing total cost will be $600.
So I went to the tire rack to look at wheel/tire packages. It seems there are some very nice wheels for under $100 each. In fact, this ASA is very attractive for only $79 each. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels...l.jpg
They have many other 15" wheels for around this price range. Long story short, I can get a new wheel and tire package set, mounted and balanced (Hunter Road Force) delivered to my house with a road hazard warranty for just under $700.
So here is my question. Is there any benefit to buying used factory alloys over the new, "lower cost" alloys at tire rack? FWIW, It seems the low price tire rack wheels weigh around 15 to 17 pounds apeice.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts an opinions.
