Default What header is this?

I just bought a 2000 Civic EX with a stockie d16y8 and the header looks kinda small..is this the factory one?

Right now it feels pretty lacking in the low end (under 2500rpms) would an aftermarket header help that? Sometimes it bucks a few times if I'm trying to pull out fast and give it more gas. Only mods are a DC Sports 2.25" catback exhaust and that ghetto intake

thanks guys for any help

i was selling something to someone and he said it looked like a d15 header..didn't really make sense for the previous to swap that in though.

Looks almost custom with a stock flange setup to make it 2 piece for clearance issue.

that is the stock 99-00 tubular header, which happens to be the best header for the d series, anything else would be a downgrade

i'm honestly not sure what header it is, but i don't think a pretty much stock d16y8 will feel very powerful under 2500 rpm...in fact, probably not any rpm. And a dc sports header really isn't worth your meney for that engine. If you want a substantial difference in power, you're probably going to have to boost it.

well, im not looking for massive amounts of power. it feels like it has a little trouble even getting moving when its just me. maybe i'm just not used to it yet.

would the exhaust and ghetto intake have a negative impact?

"Massive" power comes in boosted form

as for little trouble moving that shouldnt be that bad. what was your previous car?

did you do a check up/tune up on this when yo ugot it? how is the compression on teh motor?

it shouldnt be that weak. unless your coming from a stock 300 hp car or something.

i drive around in my d16y7 with like 50 hp at the wheel and its ok you with 100 shouldnt be that bad...

Boosting a stock D motor does not have to massive. You can keep it cheap, reliable, and have a feel much better than stock. I agree with everything you said.

Yea, maybe you should do a tune-up, check compression, etc. Because all I have is a lil' d15b7 and it doesn't have any trouble at all getting going.

I haven't done a check up/tune up/compression test. Is there a good place to do that at?

I used to have a boosted B20Z2 and it just didn't run that great so I'm trying to stay away from turbo for my daily. Is there such a thing as a turbo setup that runs on 87 octane gas?

I thought D16Y8's valve cover said V-TEC on it?...and were silver, not black?

Your valve cover looks like a 92/93 EX/Si (Z6) cover.

look here for comp. test, leakdown, etc. http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto.php good site

As for your old turbo set up, that sounds like you just needed a good tune. There are TONS of people who daily drive with a boosted car. You'll hear this a million times if you browse honda-tech, it's all in the tune, and it's true. NA or turbo, you need to make sure your car is running the best it can under its circumstances. Not enough fuel, it will screw up your whole drive until you fix it, etc.

So are the Z6 and Y8 valve covers intnerchangeable? Cause thats a 92/93 EX/Si cover then. Only the 94/95 EX/Si say VTEC.

ok im not sure but i think the valve covers are different because they have different gaskets but im not sure....

my friend has a 97 d16y8 and his valve cover just says HONDA in big letters and i have a 99 d16y8 and mine says HONDA and VTEC in small lettes with the "H" in front of them.....so it all depends on the years....im just guessing

:edit: ok i just st checked in ebay and they are both interchangeable.....
