Default headlight question

sup guys...

just got home and i noticed while i was driving one of my headlights wasn't on...i am almost positive it has been out only as of recently because i don't remember it being out a couple of days ago..

not the 1st time i've had this problem..i replaced the stock bulbs with some aftermarket hyper white ones and one side burned out..returned the set to the store and they gave me another set..same side also burned out a day later..so i said forget it and decided to stick with the stock bulbs..and now one of them don't work..maybe it did burn out, which is my guess..but i did partially remove my bumper 2 days ago to install a front Honda emblem to my grill..i don't know if maybe i hit something or whatever but if you guys could maybe break down a list of possible reasons maybe it could help..or if anyones had this problem before..

i did go under the hood and made sure all the ballasts and plugs to the bulbs were in securely..nothing was loose or unplugged...

did you touch the bulb tips with your fingers? Did you put the rubbers back into place where no water can get into them?

those aftermarket bulbs are crap
how much do that cost? like 30-50 bucks
they have hid-kits that are 160-200 nowadays

For some reasone, it's the way the rsx was wired. Or so everyone had been saying. About 90% of the time it's the drivers side that goes out first. I had aftermarket bulbs and they would pop, I had hid's and just tossed em and have aftermarket bulbs and they're running fine, but going back to hids in a few days.

I've never had any problems that i haven't created for my bulbs to go out. Only issue i had was when i accidently forgot to put my PS resivior back on the bracket and it rubbed against the PS pulley and created a hole which ended up leaking PS fluid down near the bulb and blew it out. Other then that my bulbs never went out on me.

If fuse was burnt lights wouldn't work and if fuse was lower amperage they would blow out faster and then back to issue 1 where lights wont work. vicious cycle

Also check the wiring harness and connectors if you haven't already because those aftermarket bulbs run hotter than the stock ones and tend to melt the harness.

hmm i meant to say...PREVIOUSLY i had went to those hyper white aftermarket bulbs..and like some of you said..they DID burn out...and yes they are crap haha...got one set..driver side burnt out...returned it and they gave me another set...and one side burnt out again...so currently im on my stock bulbs.

so the stock bulbs are the ones that aren't working...the passenger side this time..i'm pretty sure everythings wired correctly..and i did put the little rubber piece in securely..i never touch the bulbs bare-fingered..i dont have any PS leaking into the area..

i am going to check the fuses..maybe its that..because i did just install my fogs like a month or two ago...and my cousin was the one doing all the fuses and wiring etc. inside..im sure he didn't do anything wrong though because i had been driving from then up until last night with all my lights working just fine..

any sites i could check out those 150.00ish hid bulbs?

its also possible that you ruined your wires
happen to my cousin on his tC
aftermarket bulbs draw a different(incorrect) wattage
i guess it frys it up
he replaced the whole wire and it works fine now

I got an HID Kit on HT for $140 shipped and it's sick. My girl had PIAA on her RSX for a year and they burned out, same thin gon my past car, for one year and they were done too. After market bulbs are crap. Might as well spend a bit extra and get an hid kit.

hmm yeah..thinkin about those HID kits

but today i did my oil change and decided to just get a set of some aftermarket bulbs with a hint of blue in them..they're 7000k i think..got em for 20 bucks..just a temporary answer until i can get my hands on an HID kit..

but it WAS the bulb..i put both my stock bulbs next to eachother in clear light and on one of them..the coil was cut in half..looks like it had melted apart or something..the other one's coil was one full piece..

but any idea why that would've happenned?..i'd like to prevent that from happening again anytime soon.

sucks i have to remove my bumper and headlights just to change two small bulbs.

I didn't even have to remove my bumper and headlights when I put my HID Kit on(that's harder than replacing bulbs).

ah well..i guess yeah you dont have to...just would be a little tight and kind of hard to maneuver through..

i just did it today cuz the car was already jacked up from the oil change..and i had to loosen the top of the grill anyway so i could tighten my honda emblem cuz it was wiggling a little..so i just went through with all of the bumper to make it easier

I mean bulbs popping cause of a wire issue not cause of age?

I heard of bulbs going out, LOL
