read my post and do the EGR test.
Thats what it is. h22 egrs are prone to it

Did you change your Plugs, Cap, Rotor, Wires? Try cleaning your IAC and PCV Valves too.

I have had two h22 swaps with the exact same issue, and found yesterday my timing was waaayyy off. I was told that after a T-belt change on the H22 it's really easy to have the exhaust cam gear off by one tooth. Either way, adjusted my dist to compensate and bewya.. we got power. Just a suggestion.. :

whats ur EGR test? when i opened mines up it was filled with all this black gunk so i cleaned it out with as much as i can but i think i will need to open up my whole intake manifold n just clean everything n replace the gaskets. when i cleaned the EGR sol it seem to fun a bit better but i wasnt able to get deep enough inside the manifold

Change your Cap and Rotor and see if it still hesitates.

PLEASE unlike others
read this and follow it step by step.
start with the test, then move on to the cleaning.

IACV won't affect anything outside of IDLING (idle air control valve)

These cars can hesitate for a nuber of reasons.
EGR
Knock seonsor defective
Bad O2 sensor
improper timing
Worn fuel system
Worn ignition system
Worn engine

Check The simple ones 1st.
work you way down the list

-Be sure no CEL for knock or other
-Do the EGR test. if it fails fix it.
-Check/change your Cap rotor plugs.
-Test Coil and ICM
-Check timing
-Adjust valves
-Check fuel pressure
-Change fuel and air filter
-Seafoam
-Change O2 sensor
-Compression test

Those are the most simple and main reasons for Ping, misfire ect.

fuel psi spec is something like 35-43

a guy at my auto tech school had this same problem and replaced damn near every part on the car. he hooked up an exhaust gas analyzer and proved it was intermittently going lean...anyways it ended up being a software problem in the ecu...put a new ecu in there and it went away

I found the best way to cure this damn problem with h22's is to
seafoam
Change plugs
and tune on crome.
Its the only way, to cure this shyt for sure!!!
these motors are so sensitive to fuel and air mix.

any engine is sensitive to air/fuel mixture

the stock ecu should have no trouble running the car ok though.

and seafoam is crap I would never use that **** in my car.

OP: listen to s_vares, clean the egr ports, clean the tb, take out and clean your o2 sensor, maybe even get a new one, make sure your catalytic converter isn't clogged up.

The stock ecu should be able to run the car fine, other things need to be looked after first.

You are staring to **** me off, not trying to be rude.
DID YOU TEST YOUR EGR SYSTEM???
At idle remove the vac. line from the EGR and put it to straight vaccum (like your FPR or something) does your car stall???
If no your EGR is to blame.
TRY IT NOW

fuel, air spark and compression is all you need. you have good fuel pressure, so start with a compression test. also make sure your plugs cap rotor and wires are in good shape, now might be the time to replace them if its been a while.
