Default H22 Rev limit

I have a jdm h22 with a tuned ecu that has a rev limit of 8200. I have been taking it to 8000. Is that too much?

Is this on a stock motor? 8k is a little high for a stock motor with stock cams. You're not making any more hp or torque that high, why stress the motor for nothing?

7300 is when your power stops dropping so its pointless to continue to rev the crap out of it.

8000 on the stock tach is nothing extraordinary and not beyond the limits of this motor.

personally i felt the power feel like it dropped off slightly after 7k on all stock internals. Thats butt dyno however no sheets to prove that.

Ditto that. 8000 is more like 7600-7700 on my PIVOT. If youre shifting a stock H22 at redline on the stock tach youre leaving power on the table.

No, that makes sense. Torque is dropping off fast on a stock engine before 7000. Power is still around peak, though.

so where is the best point to shift on stock h22? taking in consideration the ~200 rmp diff on stock tach. 7300 is top of power curve? so shift at 7500 on stock tach?

Shift at exactly 7563 rpms. Any less and you'll fall out of VTEC on the upshift. Any more and it'll blow up!

I'd go to right below fuel cut. At least in the lower gears.

rofl. Good stuff. shift at about 7500-7600 like stated since the stock tac is off about 200 rpm. power drops off at 7300 and if you shift at 7300 on the stock tac your going to fall out of vtec and loose some time. Shift at 7600 to be safe and you will stay in vtec and always have your power at peak levels.

Yep, you always want to shift to maximize your HP output.

Shifting at the fuel cutoff is how I ran my fastest times stock. You should be able to catch the 1st sign of bounce, and then shift!
