Default 95 Accord DX speedometer problems

Hello,
I have a 1995 Accord DX and the speedometer no longer works. When the car is off it reads 0 but when I start it, it jumps to 19 mph and stays there and the odometer does not count the miles. Every once in a great while it start working for a few miles but the odometer still does not count the miles. I have done some research and I found someone on another forum who had this exact problem but there were no answers for him. He stated he replaced the speedometer head (not sure if he means the whole cluster unit or what) and the VSS and he still had the same issue. Is there something else it could be? Is the speedometer head the same thing as the cluster? Not sure how I should go about fixing this. Any help would be great!

Eric

if you have a CEL light and the speedo doesn't work, it's the VSS that's bad

otherwise it's the cluster

please search next time

Wow, that was a quick reply. I did search and I didn't see anything with that exact symptom, that's why I asked. I'm also not a mechanic by any means, so what exactly is the CEL light if you don't mind me asking? Thanks again for your promptness!

Check Engine Light, little amber/yellow guy in the center of the cluster

as to searching make sure "Archive" is the button checked on the right, otherwise not alot comes up at all

CEL = check engine light, got it. I guess I should have thought that one out a little more! OK, so I don't have that, so you're saying it could be the cluster. Right on, thanks for your help. I'll let you know if that in fact fixes my problem.
