'87 CRX
I'm going to start off saying that I am new to this site and honda's for that matter. I am looking at getting an 87 CRX from a neibor. What I have questions about are What is an easy way to tell what type of motor is in it and what trim model it is? All Body markings on it have been pulled off and no marks are there, the title is in a safe box. What would a good price to pay for it he is currently asking 500 for it. I will try and get pictures of it in the next few days.
P.S. Someone told me about a ls vtech I have no idea what that is. So it would be help full if someone could explain to me what it is.

After doing more research (wireless net at school) and just general exp from the area I'm betting it's an hf with the stock oem engine in it. Also found out that it already has been lowered overall by about 2' and has longer axels put on so that the tires are outside of the fenders by about .5'. Also noted from an email from the guy the engine runs good in it but when he puts it in gear the car does not move at all so both him and myself are betting the clutch is gone. I'm hoping by wensday at the earilest to get some pictures of it what see what people say about it. I probally gonna get it for 2 reasons 1 it's a CRX and 2 have something to spend time on after everything else is done for the day.
My first car in high school was an 87 CRX HF, that car has the most amazing gas milage, I swear I would fill that tank only once a month. And I drove alot back in high school. Engine swap is really gonna bust your ***** since the engine is carbed. If you get it, enjoy the gas millage. If you wanna swap, you need to find a dx or Si. Even those versions in the first gen rex are a pain in the ***. Redpepper racing will have a ton of info on the first gen rex. If you really wanna swap you need a second gen. Have fun!!!!
Sounds like its more of a headache then its worth. Even for 500$. You would be surprised what you can find for the 500-1000 range.
A carbed HF with bad trannny could be a pain in the ***.

Only real reason why I'm taking such an paticualer intrest in it is for the price it would take to get in running reliably is what I would pay for a later gen of crx. Right now I'm in a 92' subaru loyale only thing I have to do to it right now is find an oil leak on it.
Alright checking some car sites for crx's in my are and this is what I found:

I think I'm just gonna save up some more $ to get a later model so I can do a motor swap without much hassel. So with this I'm gonna go play race car driver in my car.(it's parked)
Also going over some more car sites I have only found 3 crx's in my area that would be worth the time to look at without going out of state.
