Default man how tight is the oil plug suppose to be?

me and a my buddy were trying to do an oil change, but the BOLT was on soooo tight. we jacked up one side of the car and laid on the floor. i used my left hand to keep it straight and my right arm to push, but the bolt didnt budge. were both pretty strong, so dont say were scrawny.. i pushed so hard, it seem like my head was going to explode....

is it suppose to be that tight?

No. Maybe they used hondabond or locktite. I bet when you get it off you are going to find something you don't want to see.

Otherwise you are just scrawny, LOL

Depends who did it last.

No, it shouldn't be that hard, I mean you can strip the bolt if you overdo it.

Just secure the wrench to the bolt and hit that wrench with a hammer.....

They may have put it on with an impact wrench. Are you sure you're trying to turn it the correct direction?

Whoever put it on is not a mechanic. You should only tighten in enough so it doesn't leak.

I would purchase a breaker bar and get it off with that. Since you are under the car on jacks it will give you the leverage nedded to break torque.

Use your foot, cause obviously you'd get a little more leverage out of that,
Or take your car to jiffy lube, I bet they could get it done.

Try this:

1. Using the proper size socket (6 point socket is better than 12 point; but, either should work) and a ratchet or a box end wrench, make sure it is set to loosen.

2. With both hands on the ratchet or wrench, pull instead of push.

but pulling would tighten it, we were at the driver side wheel

Then goto the passenger side of the car..

And if you're using a Ratchet, it should only Move the bolt one way, and click going the other.

And only tighten until the crush washers crushes. Thats why they are only used once because they crush.

Sucks for you. If its totally fucked then either an oversized bolt (not recommended) or a new pan.

1. put the wrench w/ correct socket onto the bolt
2. get a pipe and stick it onto the end of the wrench (for leverage )
3. pull counter clock wise (right)
4. you might want to replace the bolt after, might as well get a magnetic one
5. when you tighten it back up DO NOT use the pipe, just use the wrench and turn it hand tight, then a quarter of a turn more, that should be tight enough.

Hope this helps.
