87 CRX overheating
Sup sup. I have an 87 CRX with an 87 Acura Integra D16-A1 swap. Over the past few months my engine has been steadily getting hotter and hotter until I finally reached the point and decided to clean it out and put in a new thermostat. Take note, the engine was running perfectly fine at normal cooling temperatures until this started happening. After putting in new coolant, a new radiator cap, and a cooler thermostat (guy at the auto parts shop said stock was 190, I now have a 170 degree thermostat in now "shrug") the engine was still running hot and hotter than before. After doing some checking I found that I was no longer getting "squeeze pressure" on the upper radiator hose and decided that the water pump needed to be swapped as well. Again, after changing the coolant and putting in a new water pump, the engine was still running hot AND hotter than it was, this time at least, there is pressure in the hoses. The overheating has finally gotten to the point I can barely drive for 10 minutes at 60 MPH until it gets close to the overheating mark during the daytime. Nighttime driving isn't so bad, but still an issue. As it stands, I still have yet to rip out the stock radiator from another scrap CRX I have, but I'd hate to go through the hassle of doing so if its not going to solve the problem. So far there are no leaks and the thermostat was checked before installation.
I'd be most appreciative if anybody can give me some ideas on what it is that could be causing this. Do I need a new radiator put in? Is there a sensor that exists that I'm not aware of? Thanks for any help in advance.
Also, I won't be responding back to this post as I have no internet at home, but I will checking back in a day or two. If anybody needs more details, I'll give more when I get back. Thanks again....
EDIT: Forgot to mention, that my fan is working (its on a manual switch) and that the heater is working (sad to to say, I have no air conditioning under the hood either). There is no smoking from the exhaust and no coolant leaking into the oil. Coolant was also bled as well. Did I forget to mention anything else?
