Default Best tire size?

Hey whats the best tire size for the 5th gen in terms of performance. Also, what is the widest that the tires can go before you look like a low riding trunk with wheels that stick out a foot? Whats the stock width?

It depend on the width and offset of the wheel. But in general, 225 width is the maximum the 5G Accord can accomodate.

Does the tire construction matter? Ive read in some of the other threads that the falken azenis tires have squared off sidewalls which make them essentiall "wider" than one w/ rounded off sidewalls... Some of the civic owners say they rub w/ 205/55/15 azenis tires or something like that?

Would 215/50/16 Falken Azenis tires generally fit on a 5g accord w/ the right wheel?

ohhhhhhh in the tire code 225/50/15 the 225 represents the width of the tire. they dont measure in inches. the 50 is the apsect ratio, this is the ratio between the width and hiegth of the tire from rim to tread... or how much "meat" is between the wheel and road. the 15 simply represents the size of wheel.

At the same time, my rear 205's rub the springs.
what offset wheel are you running? my k1's are +45.

lol....im crazy...sorry about that. I was always told that the first number is the circumference and not the width. So that 225 is in mm correct? So around 8.8''? Does that stick out of the fender or hit your springs on a fifth gen? I was just wondering because at wheelmax.com they have their wheels in terms of 7.5'', 8.0'', and 8.5'' so I thought the tires were like that. Im obviously new to wheels and tires...lol Thanks for bearing with me.

sticking out is a function of wheel width and offset, mostly offset

i am trying to see whats the max offset i can have before i start rubbing i know in the rear with my 225/45/16's i have about 5mm more space as i slapped in one of daves wheel spacers to see, i really like it when the fenderwell is totally filled up, looks 'muscular' to me but in the front i guess i have only 2-3mm more space to playwith, the trick now is what happens when i go to a 7.5" width or 8" width, and go to +42/43 up front and +40 in the back etc......

Too much offset though and you can wreck a good suspension setup by altering the geometry. On a FWD car, you want to keep the offset as close as possible to factory.
