Default rims and tires 16"

hey there im about to get new rims and i went to discount tires and they said that they wont carry any more 16" tires that they will be discontinued soon and the best way to go will be 15 or 17 . is that true???

No, absolutely not.

Maybe they're not keeping 16" tires in stock because they don't sell a lot of them. But they can still order anything you want (and plenty of 16" tires continue to be manufactured and sold). They're just trying to sell you what they stock, not what you need. Go elsewhere for your tire needs.

You can always buy the tires you need via the Internet (or phone) and have them shipped to you, from dealers like Tire Rack, Discount Tire (they will still sell tires your local DT retailer won't), Vulcan, etc.

If that were true, then why did Bridgestone just release a new 16" fitment of their RE-01R tire? Granted, that came along with their first 15" offering from that line, but if 16's were a dying breed why would they decide to release new sizes for 16's?
