Ways to Protect Your Car
Hey, I just picked up a 98 Gsr. I was very hesitant at first, only because I know it's always one of the top stolen cars, but at the price I got it for, I couldn't pass it up. I just wanted to know some effective ways to protect my car from getting stolen. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
I just bought a product from MasterLock that is kinda like the club, except it connects from the steering wheel to the brake pedal.

I'm going to buy an alarm soon and also intend on hiding a kill switch somewhere in the car.

After market detachable steering wheel if u wanna sacrifice the airbag, any basic alarm, any of those lock things that deltacharlie mentioned are great. they have one that u can put on ur shifter, but u'll have to do a search for that, cuz i dun member what it's called. i'm sure there's more, but i'd start with an alarm and get a steering/pedal lock. the more u get the harder it is to steal but no car is unstealable if the thief really wants it.
Go to the Audio/Video/Security forum and read the thread on a Stealth alarm install. A stealth alarm install with a back up battery, extra sirens and several kill switches is a great start. A deatchable steering wheel, auto lock , etc. are easily bypassed but are a good extra layer. Just use some common sense and be aware of where you are going to park your car for extended periods of time.
try to keep it in a garage if possible. if you park it ouside at night turn your wheel to face the curb as much as possible(to sort of prevent it from being towed away) an alram, lo jack, detachable steering wheel. and like it was stated, common sense.

hopefully everything I told you in the pm helped you out quite a bit.
another suggestion might be turning the wheel completely one way, that way if they do try to pull it, itll give them some trouble. I know its pretty much useless, but it may help some time.

ok, i remember back when my brothers civic got stolen and the only reason they didnt get it is because the couldnt get the steering wheel lock thing broken. so they just kept going in half circles. So my question is ive been turning my steering while the car is totally off till it locks.... will this help. because then its way harder for them to leave right??/
wow you guys are awsome...thanks for the inputt... does anyone know if its common for theives to use towtrucks? cause that seems to be the only thing you can't protect your car against...
There is the DEI Tilt sensor that will trigger your alarm if there is an attempt to lift/tow the car. A thief does not want any attention brought to what they are trying to do. Have you read the thread in the audio/video/security forum yet? All of this is discussed there.
Cliffnotes:
-Alarm (with tilt, motion and glass break sensors)
-Fuel cutoff kill switch (or two)
-Hood cable relocation and blockage from underneath the car aswell
-Clutch lock
-Quick release steering wheel
-Always turn your wheel all the way one way (preferably toward the curb) for the thieves with flatbeds.
Its a given, but park in a garage if you can and just use common sense.
EDIT:
You live near Boston? Eh, forget all i said. Your fucked. On the bright side, you don't live in Lowell or Lawrence

That Desert Eagle will surely do the trick...Crutchfield sells an inexpensive stealth GPS tracking system with battery backup that can track anywhere on earth to within a few meters,of course "good" thieves always take the stolen car to a "safe" point for 12-24 hours in case it has LoJack or GPS,and unless someone comes to the cars rescue, you'll probably see your own parts for sale on Craigslist.Use common sense as stated above, layered security, garage, etc.
