The fog lamps use an H3 bulb. You could probably install some sort of H3 HID kit into them, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

A number of reasons:

- The H3 bulb uses a horizontal filament to create light, while the HID capsule uses a vertical arc. The optics of H3 fog lamps are designed to properly focus light from the H3 bulb, not an HID capsule. The result is a poor beam pattern.

- The HID capsule generates far more overall light than an H3 bulb, and the fog lamp housings are not capable of properly controlling that excess light. The result again is a poor beam pattern and excessive glare.

- The light output of most HID systems (especially drop-in kits) tends to be skewed towards the blue portion of the spectrum. This is not ideal for use in fog or inclement weather, which is what fog lamps are generally designed for.
