Default Heat Soaked Rad, Turbo CRX

I just picked up my Turbo CRX LSV ride this weekend but I have a problem. I'm currently using a factory Del sol radiator and the engine over heats after a few runs down the block. We at the shop checked just about everything and with out a doubt the radiator is deff heat soaked.

I'm on a budget and in need of a radiator that will flow really good but can't be much bigger then the del sol radiator. The Del Sol is a perfect fit any bigger then that the turbo will not clear. I'm trying to minimize any more fabing if possible.

Any suggestions?

I'm currently looking on ebay...

How big is the intercooler?

If you are 100% sure it is from heatsoak try wrapping the DP if it runs next to the rad. You can also try running your fan to a switch or constant.

yeah.. ive never heard of high flow radiators..

I would wrap everything you can with heat wrap.. also make a heat shield for the manifold so it blocks as much heat as it can from the radiator.

usually those dual core radiators from the del sols are pretty good.

I wrapped my manifold, downpipe, and dumptube. I also have a high flow fan, and my car never over heats, even after tons of pulls.

I'm using a dodge neon radiator which is about the size of an EG half rad.

So yeah, wrap up what you can and see if you can get those underhood temps down a bit.

So you guys think the Del sol radiator should be efficient enough?

I do have a really big Intercooler a buddy gave it to me way back for dirt cheap. It's deffenantly a tall core about 13" in height covering pretty much all of the radiators face.

I know the intercooler is playing a role in blocking some of head wind. But I was trying to avoid replacing the core. The only thing I got wrapped is the downpipe.

Order a del slo/civic radiator that has provisions for auto-tranny coolant lines, and it will be 2x thickness. You can get them on ebay for ~$60, I prefer the ones with the single, 2x deep core, it holds a bit more water and transmits heat a bit better to the fins (more contact area). Regardless, you should wrap your hot stuff up, it will make a WORLD of a difference.
