HELP 98 GS-R Converted 2 An AUTO 4 The ONLY acceptable reason....can sombody help PLEASE!
PLEASE HELP im desprate.. i have a 98 integra vtec. i love my car,the whole package, a new die hard HONDA fan. i had big plans 4it. i had intentions of attending a respected school 2learn everything about the automobile and the internal combustion engine, whole classes on ECU tuneing. about a year ago, on my way home from orientation i was permanently disabled in a major motorcycle accident involving a fulsize pick up. needless 2 say i was on the bike. so now if i ever hope 2 drive my beloved honda again i have a lot of mods 2do. the biggest is a conversion to automatic. it sucks but its nessary only 1 arm functions at this point. i want an auto that will work properly with my vtec. is this even possable or should i give up an invest in a pair of good walkin shoes? i am all but compleatly lost start 2 finish. i need any and all HELP and constructive comments. THANK YOU

he's probably right unless you have time...
first off, you'll need an automatic vtec ecu...
You may be able to talk to one of the ecu chippers, phearable or something like that to get an ecu that works with vtec, as well as an automatic transmission.
Then you'll need to find an ecu, If you dont really care about having the fastest acceleration, youre easiest way would be finding a ls auto tranny, fi you do care, be ready to start having trouble cause you'll have to find an auto gsr transmission from japan.
Any shop that can do an auto to manual tranny swap should be able to do a manual to auto swap.
Look around in your areas for shops capable of doing this.

The JDM market had an automatic SiR with VTEC. In all honesty, you should probably consider other cars that came as automatics and offer performance. It will be far less time, money, and head-aches.
I agree with the other posters; it'd be easier to get another car. However, don't let that stop you if you're determined. However, what's your budget like? This probably won't be cheap, especially if, as I'm guessing, you'll have to pay a shop to do the work for you.
If you're really set on Integras, trade your car in for an LS or GS model. Or maybe get an RSX. Or if you have lots of cash and like the Integra too much, drop an RSX engine into the Integra; it has an automatic version, and has a lot more torque than the 1.8L B-series.

Yes, they do. VTEC doesn't prevent you from having an automatic, Honda just didn't offer it with the Integra in the USA. They did offer an automatic VTEC Integra in Japan at that time, I believe. The problem here is money and convenience: it could be hard and/or expensive to track down one of these transmissions from Japan.

If your into wrenching, sounds like a cool project.
The tranny mount on the chassis is different between auto and manual. Companies like Hasport sell an auto->manual tranny mount. Not sure if anyone makes the opposite. Would probably have to go custom or have the chassis modified.
Also, to mount the auto shifter would probably require some drilling and cutting.
Parts List:
Auto tranny
Auto intermediate shaft
Flexplate & bolts
Tranny mounts (?not sure which ones?)
?Stiffeners?
Auto starter
Auto shifter assembly
Auto radiator (or tranny fluid cooler)
TCM (Transmission Control Module)
?Problably auto wiring harness(es)?
