My 89 CRX Si battery has been dying on me overnight so today I searched for the problem. I used a multi meter in-line with the negative battery terminal and found a large draw, only decreased when the HORN fuse was pulled from under the hood.
So I unplugged the horns, and that didn't decrease it, but I did get the draw down when I unplugged both seat belt electrical connectors on both doors. The only problem now is that I don't think they're going to lock up if I get into an accident, thus eliminating the seat belts...so anybody have an idea of how to fix this, or what is even causing the draw in the belt wiring? The seat belts retract in the door (both bottom and top reels on both doors), so I don't know what is up with the wiring? Any suggestions would be appreciated...

 

how old is your battery ?? nothing in the car like u said seat belts would be enough to kill the battery. your seatbelts will still work in the event of an accident, they are a mechanical design and not electrical. THey use a weighted pendulum to lock the seatbelt in an event of a crash

 

The battery is brand new, I replaced it once because I thought the battery was bad because it went dead on me a few times, and now every time I go to start it up the battery is dead. It went from 11.65 volts last night to like 2.65 this morning at 11:00. The current draw with the seat belt electrical plugs connected is around 345 mA and then when I unplug both driver and passenger sides from the reels it goes down to 17 mA. I didn't try pulling the under hood HORN fuse and seeing if the battery drains, but I'm pretty sure it would as the current decreases drastically when I pull the fuse. So I'm not really sure what's causing this?

 

I had a thread similar to this, and i found that the seatbelts do draw current when the door is open. I had a problem with it killing my battery. and the horn fuse supplies power to the seatbelts. one test you can do is to open a door and then pull the horn fuse, when you do this listen for a click, the click is the seatbelts. then try this with the door shut, it shouldnt click , unless the door sensor isnt working right( and its not the dome light switch)
