Default 90 Si Quickie paint job pics...

Turned out pretty good and Just wanted to show ya'll...
90 Si, bought for $800 with burnt valve.

Swapped on a Z6 head and started on the body.

Used door, Aftermarket hood and fender.

One late night of bodywork and priming

A few hours wetsanding and scuffing with red scotchbrite.

A few more hours minor dissassembly and masking.

Another hour of spraying. Hour of baking and time to unmask.

And finially put back together.

And yes I know the headlights need to go. Its my GF's car and she likes them but I"m still trying to talk her out of them. But for now I need to lower it and maybe different rims.

Lemme see,
-Mix sealer 5 min.
-Spray sealer 5min.
-clean gun and mix paint 10min.
-Spray fist coat of paint 10min.
-Flash time 10 min.
-Second coat 10 min.
-Flash time 10 min.
-Last coat 10 min.

Oops looks like I'm a liar, It may have been more than an hour...

Good for him... To do a good job on a complete and spray a single stage it takes about an hour using the paint I did, some paint has longer flash times than others and it also depends on the temp. in the booth and the temp. reducer you use. Did I want to rush it and hammer on 3 coats in 20 minutes so it could solvent pop and I could spent the whole next day colorsanding and buffing? Nope. This was a quickie job done on the cheap and I masked off the moldings and untaped them in the booth before the paint was fully cured. But maybe after 12 years of doing this for a living I have no idea and I'm doing it all wrong... Thanks for asking really intelligent questions....

Thanks for all the positive comments.. Any idea on rim choice? Was thinking black GT3's or 99-00 Si's or GSR blades..

Its cool, You just came off as trying to sound like you knew everything. To this day I learn new things from others in the trade all the time, you never stop learning and you will never learn anything with a know it all attitude. But it you didn't mean to sound like that I'm sorry.. Good luck in the trade...

I think the black GT3s would be a tasteful choice, and I'm glad you kept the molding black.
