Here are some pictures from the trip… Not many because I spent most of the time either behind the wheel or helping Matthew on the track.
Getting ready to leave on Saturday

First stop on the way to Fort Erie

Sunday morning just south of Pittsburgh

Matthew getting the car ready

Ready to start having fun

View from the hotel Monday morning

Damm this looks like fun!

Cooling off after first session on Monday… Dam I just drove VIR!!

More cooling…

Some views on the way home

And I thought I had left the Deep South when all of a sudden I see this

And finaly we got escorted to the boarder…

I was fortunate enough to receive a new Skunk2 fuel rail. These things are just now becoming available and according to Tony at Skunk2, I am one of the first people outside of Skunk2 to have one.
Thanks Tony!
Here are a couple images. The rail is made of a composite material which does not absorb heat. This keeps the fuel cooler and results in more power. I can say that after I let the engine warm up for 10mins the fuel rail was still very cool while everything around it was very hot.

Your NSX wheels look even better in person!
Good shots, I saved several for my ever changing desktop. Glad you made it home safe!

Doug,
Great pics as usual. You make my photography skills look ameture
Glad to see the new Fuel rail installed. That thing weighed absolutely nothing, and the build quality looked brilliant (holding this thing in the palm of your hand felt like there was nothing there!). You'll have to keep us updated on it's performance and reliability in the coming months.
Wish I could have came down with you and Mike this year, but fate was against me. But you know ... next year .... 110%
I can just see Frank crying right now looking at these pics!

. I've been waiting for Skunk2 to release their fuel rail. I heard about it about a year ago. Can't wait to order mine.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I waited along time for mine and was on the top of the list at Skunk2. I was supposed to have it on the car for Expo (and show it off a little) but unfortunately it didn't leave Skunk2 until the Expo donations were sent to Clayton.
I now wait patiently for the composite intake manifold to finish off that side of the engine. Hopefully with a few additional parts I can hit somewhere near 215WHP.

I was also checking that out on their site too. I run the Import Builders IM and am quite happy with it. However, I'm all about lowering under hood and intake temps. I'll be ceramic coating my Toda header soon

Hey a set of 4 NSX fronts that are polished, and ITR wheels that are black.

Just a small update on the performance of the Fuel rail...
I decided to measure some engine bay temperatures to see if the fuel rail was keeping the fuel cool (that is its primary claim). I was very impressed with my initial findings. Keeping the fuel cool helps keep the intake charge cooler and reduce the likelihood of detonation.
I measured the temperatures after running the car for about 45minutes of normal street driving.
Here are the temperatures I measured:
Ambient: 78F
Engine valve cover: 172F
Intake manifold: 140F
Skunk2 fuel rail: 104F
Unfortunately I do not have comparison numbers between the stock fuel rail and the Skunk2 fuel rail but I can recall very clearly that the OE fuel rail ran very hot. I guess that it ran somewhere between the manifold and valve cover temperature.

Ryan,
Thanks for the pic!
As always it was great hanging with you again. You’ll have to swing by place next time you are in the area.
It’s a pity we didn’t share any track time together this year, but by the end of the second day my head cold had peaked and I didn’t think it was wise to finish the event off in that state.

Doug,
That Fuel Rail is mint! Can't wait to see it in person. So now you are officially the Skunk2 *****!
Let me know when you want to hook up for a pint or 2?
