pickin up a 93 hatch that has a d15b8 with 50k on the engine, what can be done to these engines?
can i get a vtec head for it? if so what head and what else do i need to complete the swap
Do u think i should buy this hatch, that has no rust, that has the d15b8
or do u think i should go with an 88 Ef that has rust, but has ad d16a6, fully rebuilt and turbo it?

bump to help this guy, all 92-95 hatches have no hp except for the si... i suggest picking up the hatch and just swapping it to a jdm d15 (v-tec) which is around $700-900... i really wouldn't suggest buying a car with rust
Get the hatch. But about that 1.5 motor, switch the head for a vtec head (Z6/Y8) and then maybe turbo it (if that's what you wanna do). If not swap is the other choice.
If you have more time than money, go turbo.
If you have more money than time, go swap.

its an 8 valve motor and super slow. redlines at 5500 i think. my wife bought a del sol and the previous owner put that motor in it cause the stock one blew up. the head swap might not work. the pistons might have 8 valve relieve pistons. but ive also heard of people pulling the head off and finding pistons with 16 valve relieves. motor sucks. i think it get like 50 mpg though. gas prices these days
It also has the longest tranny in all of D-series. 2nd gear in my friends CX, back when he first got it, went to 80mph at redline around 6000 or so. Its like the LS trans of singlecams
