I was just wondering how to set up a Garage set up
my gf wants to paint her car and the dealership she works at (shes in the body shop) wont let her paint her car there. She has a EBP SI and wants to respray it. I told her to do it in my garage. I dont know how to set it up. whats the best way to do this

I just got done painting in a 12x20 carport. One of my biggest tip for you is to leave the garage open and set 2-4 box fan from Wal-Mart under it. Make sure if there is a water heater, then turn it off just in case. Before you paint, lightly wet the floor. Also, if you don't want any overspray whatsoever on your garage, then use plastic sheeting to cover the wall and etc...g/l.
I really don't think it is worth it. I painted my hatch a couple weeks ago in my garage and it came out good but the overspray was overwhelming. I used the box fans but when I shot the clear, I couldn't even see the car from 6 feet away. I would just lookk around for a booth to ren. Thats what I will be doing until I get a side/down draft booth. Trash wasn't the problem, just overspray.
Here are some pics of the booth.
Ofcourse it wasa cleaned out once I got ready to shoot.

Thanks, I would rather use a real booth but this is all I have for now. The average person would be happy with the paintjob, but I will sand it down and reshoot it once I can get into a good booth

Here are my Top 5 Tips for those that want to spray your own paint:
1)Do not use plastic to mask off areas that will be in direct contact from overspray; use PAPER ONLY!
2)Cover your floor with rosin impregnated paper and flood it with water immediately before spraying paint. The water will practically eliminate dust on the floor from entering the air.
3)If spraying during the warmer months when insects are regularly in the air, start spraying early in the morning. Do NOT spray at night when bugs are attracted to lights unless you like the look of insects permanently stuck in your paint and clearcoat.
4)Use air hoses with an inside diameter of at least 3/8". 1/4" will restrict too much airflow.
5)Install an inline air filer at least 10 to 15 feet from the compressor. The warm, freshly compressed air needs time to cool allowing moisture to consense. If you install a filter right at the compressor, much of the moisture will get through the filter to the spray gun.
