Default exhaust size.....?

Need a few opinions on this one......96 hx.....need new exhaust....leaving stock manifold on...and getting a magnaflow hi flo cat....with a fart cannon n1 on the back (either tsudo, megan racing, or skunk 2)....but I dont know what size piping to go with 2, 2.25, or 2.5?.....loudness is not a problem....I got 2.25 on my 90 accord and its bitching loud.....would 2 be quieter?.....opinions anyone?

2.25 is just fine for any 92-00 civic.

2 woudlnt necesarily be quieter, because you have to look at it from a physics standpoint. The smaller the piping, yes you do have more restricted flow, but think about it as like a hose with a nozzle (or lack of) when the nozzle is tight, it shoots far. Now how does this relate to sound?
Example:
When i had my stock y7 motor (way back in the day) with just header, factory piping and an axle-back, it was unbelievably loud and ricey. This is because the smaller piping gives it that high-pitched (and shitty ricey) sound.

to now, with header, 2.25 piping and a new axleback, its much deeper and civil, rather than all raspy, loud and farty.

The larger the piping, the more deeper the noise will be due to a larger resonation area, the smaller, the higher it will be due to just plain physics. 2.0 is not much bigger over stock, and 2.5 is kind of large, so ive found in all my works that 2.25 is the best midway point.

2 is a little on the low end, 2.25 is a good choice. I have 2.5 in. stainless steel piping throughout and wish I had a little smaller piping, but since I'm going to be boosting my D this summer for 300WHP, it will work perfect. I may upgrade to 3 in., not sure.

Megan racing or SKunk2 FTW

^what they said

But if your planning on boosting in the near future you might want to go larger otherwise go with the 2 ¼"

Actually, believe it or not, a turbo makes an exhaust quieter than N/A. This is becausae the turbo's spindle itself muffles the exhaust flow from the engine as it passes thru the manifold and into the downpipe. But yes, if you do plan on boosting, i would go with 2.5" piping.

bigger piping will make it louder and deeper no matter what (assuming that every other variable is the same i.e. header, cat, same muffler)
just like all the others say, if your planning on staying n/a go with 2.25
2.5in or bigger if boosting

Deepness has allot to do with Resonator(s) and the presence of a cat. Persoanlyl i think no cat and no rez makes hondas sound like ****. Local trend that has been popping up is putting in 2 resonators in a row, so all you get is a low hum, with virtually no rips or ricefarts.
