Help choosing 16" preformance tire??
I am looking for a 16" high preformance tire for dry weather but dont know what to buy
The car is a turbo EG and is only driven when it is nice out and is just a fun car not my daily driver. I am not really into drag racing, the car is set up for going out on the many winding back roads where I live.
With that said what would you guys recomend? The current tires are 205/45/16 kumo ecsta supras (which blow goats, they were on the wheels when I bought them)
The 205/45/16 seemed like an odd size when I tryed to look up a set of azenis they didnt have it only:
205/40/16 - which seems like a very thin side wall or
215/45/16 - which im not sure if they would rub??? car is lowerd on koni/GC
any help would be appreciated!

205/40-16 is the correct size for pre-96 civics.
If you want the best for dry and you are willing to sacrifice longevity and wet performance then the Falken Azenis Rt-615 is probably meant for you.

So 205/40/16 is the right size? just seems like they might look like rubberbands lol I will have to search for a pic.
Is any one out there running the 215's on an EG? wondering if they would rub
So every one preaches about the Azenis but is there a compareable tire that might last a little bit longer? I dont drive the car often but wanted to take a trip from cali to washington and back this summer up the coast and dont want to burn up 1/3 of the tires life doing it

Put on 15" rims if you are worried then.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is apparently almost as good in the dry, better in the wet, and will last longer.
The Kuhmo Ecsta SPT is a very good bang for your buck tire.

old man neri is giving you good advice here.
205/40-16 is the best 16" size for your car. The Falken Azenis RT-615 is available in that size and is a great choice for a high-horsepower application like yours. However, treadlife is short (10-12K miles is typical).
If you want a longer-lasting tire (20-40K miles) with similar performance to the Azenis on dry pavement (and much better in rain), the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 is a great choice. It's not available in 205/40-16, but it's available in 195/45-16, which should work fine on your car. (205/45-16, which you're using now, and 215/45-16, are a bit too big in diameter for your car - those are the sizes for Integras and '97-00 Civics.)

Ok thanks for the advise, I looked into the Eagles but I could buy two sets of falkens for the price of the eagles lol
I will proably go with the 40 series if I get the falkens, any other tire suggestions?

Keep in mind that the Falkens are even more expensive than the Goodyears, when you take into account the fact that you will need to buy them 2-3 times as often. You just don't spend it all at once, up front.
If you really want to get cheaper tires, you can - the Kumho SPT offers great "bang for the buck" - but for a high-horsepower application like yours, I think it makes sense to spend more money for a better tire like the Azenis or the F1 GS-D3. (And no other street tire even comes close to these two tires in performance, at least not in the sizes you need.)

Yea I had a set of the SPTs back when I daily drove the car and didnt care for them. Didnt really notice any difference between them and the proxie 4s that I dailed before and they wernt that great imo either.
Thanks for the advice
I will most likely go with the falkens since the car only gets driven in the summer months any ways. If there dead at the end of the summer I will just deal with it next spring lol
