Default fluid leak

is there fluid housed or stored in cv boots, or an axle boot or anything close to the front sway bar? i was under my car today and there was a leak coming either out of a cap or out of a rubber boot and i have no idea what it is. drivers side though. if everyone is staring at this going "how the expletive am i supposed to know what this kid is talking about", i can take some pics, just let me know. oh, and it looked and smelled like oil but im not really sure.

There shouldnt be fluid coming from your cv boot, more like grease. However if you have an axle seal leak it can tend to leak down the axle to the boot although not coming from it itself. Pics

ok, for hypothetical purposes, what are the repercussions of an axle seal leak...new axle?

No your axle should be fine, the seals can go bad due to higher mileage just normal wear and tear.

Well the fluid would be coming from your tranny, which isnt good. You should be able to go to honda and buy just the axle seal itself. Its just pressed into the transmission where the axle seats up to it. Not a big deal to replace... that is if its even that. I was just throwing that out as an option. Check near the tranny and see if there is fluid leaking around that seal.

Yeah if its been leaking for quite sometime you might be having some hard shifts but i mean you would have to have lost quite a bit of fluid. The average person that has a axle seal leak will never even know it lol. I always have to up sell them at work, its never a solution to a symptom besides " i have an oil leak" lol

it could also be like a power steering fluid leak.

I had to replace my tie rod boot a while back.
