Well, I bet if you'd ask around there would be someone who would know. I would hope so at least.

we won't because it's wrong. he probably doesn't know about it since our cars really have ed not ef in our vin. but anyways ef8 is a crx, ef9 is a hatchback.

That is wrong. The ef9 denotes only one model (jdm civic SiR, I think). Actually, there are no USDM "EF" chassis cars. All USDM 88-91 civics/crx are the ED chassis (except the wagons). My 89 hatch is an ED6 for example. Most people just assume its "EF" because that's what the JDM cars were, and/or most people just don't know.

That said, I have no idea what the HF chassis designation is, lol. Might not even be ED!

in japan only... the US uses ED and a number for it's chassis designation for 88-91 civics (except wagons)

I have an 89 CRX DX and it's an ED. I never knew the difference between the ED and the EF.

ef8 is a crx in JAPAN and ef9 is a hatchback in JAPAN... you didn't specify.. but you did mention ed not ef in our vin... which is true for most (US residents) on HT
