1-Lap In-Car at Grattan in Spoon Bucket
It sucked that I couldn't make it to the Expo. Due to a recent job change, I lost all my vacation days, and that kept me from going.... Seeing all the pics and familiar faces, really wish that I could've been there.
But the weekend right before Expo, I went to Grattan for Round 3 of MWHC. Here is the best lap that I clipped from the entire race session. The car in front is one of the 2 Si's that ran the 25hr enduro in CA. Very nicely prepped. It's in H1, but the driver missed a shift at the start so he fell back from the rest of the H1 pack.

If you are interested in seeing the whole session (including the standing start), here is the link to Google Video:

As usual, PIC was there to support the series, and Al took a bunch of pics and posted in this thread in the RR/AX forum. Chris Fries also posted in-car from his H1 rocket:

Enjoy!

I predictiate the next ITR Expo will be at Autobahn, save your vacation days!
Speaking of which, BBQ is on, one way or another! I got the green light from Sam at Grattan so it's just a matter of how much pork and beef to bring.

BBQ meet at the track, with driving and racing. How cool is that?

July 21-22. Calender marked and I will be posting it on different forums.

Moojin Mike, it's actually a NASA event, also Round 4 of MWHC. Like a typical NASA weekend, it has both race and HPDE groups.
People can sign up and drive in HPDE, or just come, eat and hang out. But no beer until 5pm tho.

I actually thought they would put all the race ITR's to lead the parade this year.

Man wish some of those H2 cars move to the Midwest........
I was gaining on the Si and finally was able to get around him (or he let me by). Grattan is fun, based on the positive feedback from all the drivers, seems like NASA will return there next year.

LOL, I'm just joking. I'll see what I have going on that weekend, I'll roll down if I'm not busy. Beer in a straw = yuck.

Yeah come on down. After 5pm, there will be free food and beer. Mad Brew ( http://www.madbrew.com/ ) is at every event providing free beer.

Yup still a structural engineer. Just can't get away from this industry yet.

It's all because the Mosers were not there!!
But I was actually surprised that I could hit low 1:31. Colin's ITA record was 1:29.XX on Hoosiers I think, and he ran 1:30.XX on Toyos (in a borrowed car). I thought I would be at least 2 sec slower.

Being RHD really took me some time to get used to. Shifting was no where as bad as watching the mirrors and judging the width of the car.

Man - that track looks hard.
All the corners are off-camber!! Is that for drainage or safety (run off) reasons.
They could at least make them flat.

Turn 3 is big time downhill/off camber. That's the name of the corner (Downhill off camber). A lot of the others aren't so bad. The bowl has a ton of camber, some others just drop out from under you (turn 10 180 degree turn, before 11/12 combo and the main straight.)
You should see how bumpy parts of the track are. You can get air going in a straight line and not know what hit you!
I thought it added a lot to the character and challenge of the track. It's a lot of fun.
