Default mileage resetting

I KNOW THAT THIS QUESTION IS ILLEGAL! SO IF YOUR GONNA GO INTO THAT SPEACH I ALREADY KNOW. BUT, IM NOT EVER PLANNING ON SELLING THIS CAR AND THE CAR HAS NOT MOVED SINCE THE MILEAGE READER BROKE. i got a new cluster and wanted to know how to change the milage on it to read the same as the one that broke. HOW DO I DO THIS? I DO UNDERSTAND THERES ALOT OF CRUDY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD THAT WOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE IN THIS INFO, SO IF ANYBODY KNOWS THE ANSWER PLEASE IM ME. I HAVE BEEN CHEATED BEFORE WITH THIS ON ANOTHER ACCORD I HAD AND I DON'T PLAN ON DOING THAT TO ANYONE ELSE. i JUST WANT IT TO BE THE SAME FOR THE SAKE OF KNOWING THE TRUE MILEAGE WITH OUT HAVING TO GO TO A CALCULATOR.

no need to bump your thread one minute later

also no need to type in all caps

also you say nothing of the year of the car, if you're rolling it forwards you can do it with a power drill to my knowledge in a 5th gen back, I don't believe you can roll it backwards

I would just go to the DMV and they'll try to come up with a solution. This thread is going to get locked again sooner or later. I'm not going to report it. I know someone will.....

why does everybody want the mileage to match on the clusters? Get your owners manual and write 2 lines as follows:

Old cluster mileage - XXX XXX.X
New cluster mileage - XX XXX.X

However, i'm not sure about in the US, but in canada, if you have your cluster changed at a shop, we have a form that gets filled out that states the ammount of KM's on the car, and the ammound on the cluster going in, and its used so people cant buy a high milage car and throw a low milage cluster in it. But we also have a law saying that you MUST buy a used car package when u buy a used car...its like a car fax report, it tells you dated and milage at time of transfer, accidents, and any leins on the car...pretty handy system overall.

well

1) it makes sense
2) why not?
3) to prevent fraud
4) so someone doesn't think you're trying to lie
5) so the actual mileage is known

I can think of plenty of reasons to keep the same mileage

I understand that is easier if they match, but doest it seem like a lot of work just to have the numbers match? I mean, I can think of alot of other things i'd rather do to my car then take the cluster out to spin the odometer. But hey, thats just my opnion.
