Difference between GSR and ITR steering rack
Is there a huge difference between the GSR and ITR steering racks? Every time i drive an R it seems to have much quicker ratios, but im not sure if its in my head. TIA.

Is the pump even different? The helms manual (98) doesn't show any differences in the steering rack between any of the Integras exept a slight hose configuration on the GS-R.

I am almost positive that the steering rack in the '00+ Integra was upgraded from the previous one, not just the pump (I wasnt aware there was a pump change). I remember the ratio being different. Now, this may have just been on the ITR or all 2000 Integras, but bottom line, if this is correct than a 94-99 Integra will feel different.
what difference is there in the GS-r pumps ~vs~ the ITR j/w
here is a pic (LARGE) of the ITR (P73?) pump...

(COPY AND PASTE).
If someone can provide a pic of the GSR (P72?) pump... the issue will be settled.

'94 - '97 PS pump, steering rack feed line, and steering rack are the same (even for the '97 ITR)
'98 - '01 PS pump, steering rack feed line, and steering rack are the same (even for ITR's)
I found out the hard way that the '98+ pumps are different.
I don't know what the specific differences are in the steering racks are tho. They're just different.
The pump flange for the feed line is different, and the feed line's input hole (what's the technical term for that?) is larger on the '98+'s. Pics when it stops raining.

I believe the steering ratio's are different. If anyone out there can get their hands on the 97 Type R Brochure and a 2001 Type R Brochure, its noted that the steering ratio is quicker in a 2001 vs. 1997 R's. I caught onto it cause my friend was considering picking up the 98 CW R and i have the 01 PY R. We sat there flipping through the brochure ( I believe every R owner should have one ).
If there's a difference between the 2 production year's steering ratio, i highly doubt that the GSR's and the Type R's racks are different. Even the cams are different in the 97 Spec R compared to the 01 Spec R's ( 2 more degree's of duration or some crap like that? ).

I have both brochures...but not handy. Thinking back, I am POSITIVE that they are different between 97-98 ITRs and 2000s. I remember even stating it hear after I got my 2000 in '99. Well, it was either that or the GSR/GS/LS rack is different. Shoot..dont remember, but you are right, most likely all Integras for a given year use the same rack.
Even on my buddies 98 R, it still feels like a quicker ratio. I dont know, maybe its because my bushings have 80k miles....we shall see after tomorrow great Prothane install
I believe the steering ratio for 98's is: 16.1:1 (quoting from memory). The 00's is: 15.7:1.
I looked them up: 1997 and 1998 brochures say 16.1:1, 2000 says 15.7:1. 2001 combined brochure doesn't specify, nor did other regular Integra brochures I checked (96,99,00) -- those just give the steering wheel turns lock-to-lock (all 2.98).

WHile on the quick steering... anyone put a steering quickener on their R? I'm considering it. Some say it is great for AutoX but it makes it harder to drive on a road course. That and I heard of them failing meaning you lose steering... I love the 1:1 ratio on karts, less movement to turn, less interference, less energy needed that could take away from endurance.
ok i have a eg hatch and want to put a type r rack in.....i have a b swap with no power steering..........need some info on this before i go to town on it.....
