CRX 88 will randomly idle HIGH
Just bought the 88 CRX. Have had honda's inthe past. It will warm up like normal(high idle as to speed optimal engine temp) and go down to around 500 rpm's. My problem seems to happen appon pressing the gas pedal. It is completely random when it happens but will happen more so when a quick or hard push on the gas pedal is accomplished. Everyone(without loking or testing the car leans toward the whole throttle body assy. I myself leaned toward the TPS but then sat back and said no more like a regulating valve. I then thought well my RPM's are about 1k rpm's higher(when problem occurs) than what my foot pedal travel is on my gas pedal. So if i was currently at 2k rpms and the problem occured it would jump to 3k, check engine light will come on and any time there after appon pressing the gas for more acceleration it bogs down and then catches up to where its supose to be corolating with the gas pedal travel. I am not sure how on CRX's they warm up? pressure Valve? Vaccum...etc... Also when leting off the gas pedal whil problem has occured it will take about 3-4 seconds for the rpms to climb down to where my foot pedal travel has decreased.
P.S. the rpms never come back down to its correct reading until I shut the car off. I don't have to wait, I can start it right back up and check engine light is gone and rpms slowly UNSTICK from there previous FALSE indication as if a valve is stuck or diaphram is junked up, and the car runs fine until it wants to randomly come back. Gauranteed to happen every trip, regardless if its to the store and back. Rarely sometimes it won't happen at all.
