Default Does amount of cranks effect compression tests?

My compression numbers are all fine, however I had to crank about 8-9 times each cyl to get it to go to 212 psi on a b16 just about across the board (+-2)

The package my tester came in said 5 cranks but at 5 it was around 190 psi?

What does honda-tech say about this?

5 is accurate, it's like blowing up a balloon to measure the capacity of your lungs. If you blow 5 breaths and the balloon grows to a 5 inch diameter, and another guy blows 5 breaths into the same balloon, and it grows to 8 inches, what does that tell you about your lung capacity? Same idea with the compression test. You cranking a million times to hit over 200 would be the same as taking 15 breaths to get the balloon to expand to 8 inches, and thus means nothing. Also you need to take into account the first crank, the first number should be at least half of the final number i believe.

First number is most important, its not a matter of how high itll go in the end but how fast it gets there. I always do 3 turns because that tells me more then enough if its going to be a healthy motor or a junker.

also, doing it with the throttle wide open if there is an intake manifold/throttle body attached will affect the reading. operating temp and WOT is the most accurate.
