Default post your B20 non-VTEC times

Hey guys,

I'll be getting a B20Z w/ GSR tranny sometime within the next year. I was just wondering what your 1/4 mile times and engine mods are...

Thanks!

Damn, with just the valvetrain you took it up to 8500? Did you have any dyno's of that setup? I couldnt imagine any torque being made that high without any kinds of porting done to the head. Hmm, I need to get some springs/retainers soon.

i strongly suggest an afc or better, fuel pressure regulator/gauge, and a dyno. and getting it to idle is tricky once you play with the cam gears. i run +4 on the intake and -4 on the exhaust.

Yeah, i remember you told me about this. I'll have the fpr but not the afc tho. I guess the cam gears will be able to give me a nice idle, but not @ +4 I and -4 E like you. I'll try and get a nice idle. Just don't want to stall everywhere.

Also, there have been no cases of the cams breaking in nonvtec motors. Only ones were the vtec cams breaking. Although there was the one time that the retainer broke--the valve punched right through the center of it. A board member here I believe....

Just thought I'd try to get this post updated instead of making a new one...

Let's see everyone's times!

I know jinxproof was using a b16 tranny with a Quaiffe LSD.

His car also did 13.3 on slicks, before he put a VTEC head on..

There was a guy (HXGuy) who did similar numbers with a GSR tranny and no LSD ...that I know of anyway!

405 is the part number I think, they "race only" cam. We used it on the street with no problems. Civic type r pistons, jg head, type r manifold (before skunk was available) modified to fit, jg tb, apex afc and itc, jdm type r header, cam gears, blah, blah, all the normal stuff. The apex itc made a big difference with that high of compression. This was all done almost 2 years ago, hence some of the outdated stuff.

This thread alone is moving me away from a B18C swap...anyone else want to share stories about their b20 non vtec?
