Well so you don't have a VIN huh? ehhh.... well anyways, why don't you ask one of your kind friedns to go with you to a dealer and bring that radio in. Just remove their stereo unit. All they need is proof of ownership and some sort of receipt. I just made a fake receipt with paypal and it worked. It's as easy as that. My $.02

You don't get it from the VIN (no need to say "number" behind that btw, because that's what the N in VIN stands for). Also, Honda didn't charge me anything for my code.

If they charged you a lot, it's probably because they had to remove it from your car.

lol they dont have to remove anything from the car. all they do is they pull up your VIN with their system and just enter the code in. And all that is free and no charge as long as the car is registered to you and not stolen

I have gotten a radio code without a VIN before. Oh, and that radio I looked up? It wasn't registered to me because it was removed from an Si. I was never asked about my VIN.

My sister's Integra needed it's stock radio reset and guess what? She couldn't get it without removing the radio. Acura told her this. If they could look it up by VIN, why would they so often ask for the radio's serial number instead and not the VIN?

It's also strange that out of the years I've been into Hondas, you are the FIRST person I've ever heard say that you get the code using the VIN, not the radio serial number.

In fact this guy uses the serial numbers, not VINs to look up radio codes:

I just called my local Honda dealership. Sorry to have to tell you, but you're wrong.

I told them I was looking for a radio code for a '99 Civic. I asked, "Can I get that with the VIN or do I need the serial number?" Chris, from Honda replied back with, "No, the VIN won't tell us anything. We need the serial number." Those were his exact words.
