okay, well i have been getting a lot of pm's about my R for sale and everybody is turning away because of the sunroof. i talked to a couple people about this here in this forum and im just toying with the idea of replacing the sunroof. i dont have too much time or money laying around, but started looking into pulling the sunroof, picking up a new headliner and getting a piece of sheet metal riveted and have silicone applied. there really aren't any junk yards etc. around here and have no time to leave and travel somewhere due to work, so i was wondering if anyone knows the thickness of the roof sheetmetal so i can find some at a local hardware store or shop.

i considered looking into a sunroof plug, but my sunroof isn't OEM and therefore it would have to be custom made to size which = more $$$

i know composite fab has roof skins and considered just painting it to match, but those are 550 then paint is more money. plus i heard that the company is going out of business or already out of business

so im hoping some fellow owners can help me come up with some possible ideas for my 97

again, im just toying with the idea, because funds are limited and this sounds like more of an advanced project

 

I really dont think its worth the time or money to replaced the sunroof. Just hang in there, there has to be someone who appreciates a sunroof on a R.

x2, the last thing you want to do when you're trying to sell a car is putting a bunch of money into it to please people. The buyer will come around, you just have to hang in there an be as patient as possible.
