thanks for the heads up on the sig.

well I was posting it here since I fabed it up for the ITB's i'm working on for my motor. I'm not trying to sell these I just know in the past there have been people trying to source these intake flanges with not very much luck. Sorry if the title is misleading. I will delete it if need be.

this was cut out of 3/8" 6061 Al
to this I'm attaching the hayabusa ITB's. I need to get some tubing for the runners then I'll be set.

Price, and feasability I'm sure. The plate would need to be almost twice as thick, and the CNC time would be increased dramatically. It's easier to CNC a flat flange, and just have the bungs welded onto the runners...

which is why SLS deserves so much props for his work.

i think hes talking about the injector humps in the port. where the injector bung will go.

Was wondering this myself. He says he's running it with ITB's, so I assumed he may be welding up the head and going for the further upstream injector placement. Assumption is the mother of all f*ck ups though.

your assumption is correct. I'm placing the injectors at the throttle bodies for better atomization of the fuel. plus this was cut on a water-jet...

what type of waterjet was used to cut that? how about a side shot of the flange to see edge? looks great and post up pics when your done. How did it cost you?

Be careful with that. Take a look at how a lot of bike itbs are setup (i.e. cbr 600rr). They use 2 sets. One aimed directly at the back of the valve and the other upstream for better atomization. The upstream injectors aren't even used at low/mid rpms. Point here is that only using the upstream could hurt low-end and midrange.

Good luck on your setup.

6061, especially T6 isnt the most weld-friendly material. i wouldve gone with 2024 but good luck with it.

I've never had a problem with 6061 T6.

6061 T6 is one of the best welding types of aluminum i've welded, you must have had something different or another problem.

its easy yes, but it is prone to fatigue cracking due to it losing its temper by the welding. i dont feel like arguing, its just the properties of it. you guys can research it more if you like

First off 2024 is not considered a weldable alloy!!!!!!! The other thing is that most manifolds are made with flanges of 6061. It is a good machining and welding alloy.
