Advantages of a 5 lug over a 4lug?
What makes a 5 lug setup much better than a 4 lug? I hear it creates less about 20% less stress somewhere but why does that even matter? I dont see 4 lugs breaking...

Yes, they are bigger brakes (larger rotors and calipers). Both 4 and 5 lugs are able to upgrade to larger brakes, so it's not the ability to use bigger brakes down the line, most of the time.

There are no such thing as 'bigger' b-series axles. It is only the outer spline larger, but it doesn't mean the axle is stronger. The USDM ITR and CTR, as well as the rest of the 4-luggers use the smaller 32mm spline. The 98 spec JDM ITR uses the larger 36mm spline. However, the USDM ITR, CTR, and 98 spec JDM ITR brakes are all the same, rotor size and caliper wise.

the 5x114.3 lug pattern is exactly the same as a 5x4.5" pattern, which many American cars use. So there MIGHT be a larger wheel selection available, but probably not by much.
Is Fast Brakes still around? They used to have an ITR-spec brake setup that used ITR rotors redrilled to fit 4x100 hubs, so the larger brake excuse is pretty much out the window.

5 lug wheel selection is *** if you want to stay at 16 or 15". 17" and above is another story. Stay 4 lug if you're a wheel ****.
If you're a track **** + wheel ****, just upgrade to NSX/ITR/Accord front brakes (necessary modifications can be found else where on this site).

First reply hit it right on the nose.
First reply hit it right on the nose.
i did it because this shop had the 5 lug for cheap so i jumped on it haha.
and i get to rock wheels that most people cant.
but sometimes i do wish i had 4 lug because of some of the wheels i see.
