Default D series tranny to B series block

Is it possible to use a D series tranny with a B series block?? Maybe if the bell housings are interchanged??

Basically I have a B16 without a gearbox (well one knackered one), yet I have two spare D series boxes that are in very good condition. If I can use one of them on my B16, Id be laughing!

Thanks guys!

check out bisimoto engineering at http://www.bisimoto.com. i remember reading that they have adapter plates for d-series tranny to f series block, etc. that's probably your best bet.

cheers for the link. Nothing is advertised on their site in the way of a d -> b , but I have emailed. Although the price Id pay for the plate, it would probably be just as cheap to buy another b series box.

How different are the casings?? I dont have the d series off the car atm, so cant really visually compare.

very. just to give you an idea, d series uses two axles. one long and one short. b series uses two equal length axles and a halfshaft.
