They aren't faster or anything. I think it is mostly a mileage thing. Its easier to get a jdm h22a w/ under 50k miles than it is to get a usdm h22a1 w/ under 50k miles.

it has slightly higher compression than the h22a1 and a4.

jdm h22a has 10.6:1 compression

a1 and a4 hav 10.0:1

For the 5th Gen Prelude with a JDM H22A (4), it has a compression of 11:1 with approximately 222 horses and 163 pounds of torque. 5th Gen USDM Preludes have H22A4 10:1 compression ratio, 200 horses and 156 pounds. 4th gen. JDM Preludes H22A (1) have 10.6:1 compression ratio with 200 horses and I think they have a 160 pounds of torque.

Sure. But are you willing to spend all that money (tear down, parts, assembly) just to gain 0.6CR?

Do you even know what's all involved with installing pistons? It's not a bolt on, that's for sure.

Definitely right, for sure you have to resurface the piston walls.

Yeah, but you basically get a 'refurbished motor'. Almost like starting at 0, instead of a motor that you don't know where it's been or how it's been abused.

There's +/- to both.

The JDM has like 10 more hp, and a friends said that something with the gearing is different, more torque too.. I have also heard the usdm's are better for turbo. But this is all from friends telling me, so im not positive.

yes, USDM engines are good to turbo because they are low compression. There no point turbo-ing a JDM engine with high compression because you have a good chance of blowing the engine

I wouldn't exactly say 10.0 is low compared to 10.6.

Might want to take a read through the turbo FAQ:
